Job summary

KBR in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced HVAC engineer with proven capabilities in design and specification of HVAC systems. The role involves coordinating with architects, electrical engineers, contractors and vendors while ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.

Proficiency in HVAC software and ASHRAE standards is required, with exposure to oil & gas brownfield projects. Based in Abu Dhabi, the candidate will work on FEED and detailed engineering for medium to large-scale

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• 8–10 years of experience.
• Minimum 5 years in Oil & Gas industry.
• Experience in Middle East is preferred.
• Proficient in ASHRAE standards and HVAC software.

Responsibilities

• Design and review heat load calculations using HAP following ASHRAE standards.
• Prepare design basis datasheets and technical specifications.
• Review technical submittals, drawings and method statements with vendors.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and local standards (ASHRAE, local authority).
• Estimate capacity and size; design and select HVAC equipment (Chillers, AHU, FCU, Ducted units).
• Duct system design by Equal Friction method and related piping sizing.
• Support HVACModelers with modelling tools (E3D/S3D/Navisworks).
• Prepare MR/RFQ/TQ and material take-offs.

Title:

HVAC engineer

HVAC Engineer with proven experience in design and specification of HVAC systems. Their role involves creating and reviewing designs coordinating with other disciplines like architects electrical engineers construction contractors and vendors while ensuring projects meet quality and safety standards. HVAC Engineer to be proficient in HVAC software and international standards like ASHRAE and have exposure in the Oil & Gas hydrocarbon petroleum refinery onshore/ offshore brownfield work. Experience in FEED detailed engineering and Concept of medium to large scale projects in Middle east required. ADNOC experience will be an added advantage. To be based in Abu Dhabi- UAE.

Key Skills & Technical Competencies:

• Excellent knowledge in Standards like ASHRAE SMACNA etc
• Hands-on knowledge inDesign Software like Carrier HAP.
• Hands-on knowledge inSelection of equipment like Chillers Packagedand Split Systems Air HandlersPumps FansCooling towers etc.
• Familiar with the latest engineering and analytical techniques/software as applicable.

Job Responsibility and Requirement

• Design and review heat load calculations by using HAP following ASHRAE standards ventilation calculations pressure drop calculations for ducting and piping duct sizing pipe sizing etc. and equipment selection using relevant software (e.g. HAP AutoCAD).
• Prepare design basis datasheets technical specifications technical requisitions technical bid evaluations
• Follow up on technical scope of work with vendors and review technical submittals drawings method statement etc.
• Review and ensure compliance with project specifications ASHRAE and local authority standards.
• Estimate capacity and size.
• Design & Selection of AC equipment Chiller AHU FCU PACU Ducted Split Unit and Extract Fans etc
• Duct system design by Equal Friction method.
• Duct & Pipe sizing Air Flow Diagrams D&IDs Cause and Effect Diagrams
• HVAC Control Philosophies HVAC Ducting layout etc.
• Hands-on in review of PostOrder Contractor/ Supplierdocuments
• Provide inputs and guidanceforHVACmodelers in modelling tasks. Working knowledge of modellingsoftwarelike E3D S3D and Navisworks is desirable
• Should be able to independentlyestimate Bill of Quantities for Bulks like Ducting DampersRegistersand other accessories.
• Material Requisition (MR) / Request for quotation (RFQ)/ TQ (Technical query) and Material Take off.
