Job summary

AL FANIAH A/C SYSTEM CONT/LLC in Dubai is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC system design. You will perform heating and cooling load calculations, design Chillers, AHU, VRV, DX and packaged units, and prepare layouts, schedules and technical specs for diverse projects.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years UAE/GCC experience, strong knowledge of ASHRAE/SMACNA/NFPA standards, and proficiency with Carrier HAP, AutoCAD and Revit/BIM.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC/Building Services.
Minimum 5 years HVAC design experience, UAE/GCC/INDIA preferred.
Strong knowledge of HVAC design principles and psychrometrics.
Proficiency with Carrier HAP or equivalent load-calculation software.
AutoCAD proficiency; Revit/BIM is an advantage.
Familiarity with UAE local authority requirements.

Responsibilities

Perform heating and cooling load calculations and equipment sizing.
Design HVAC systems including Chillers, AHU, VRV, DX and ventilation.
Prepare layouts, schematics, BOQ, BOM and technical specs.
Coordinate designs with MEP disciplines and review drawings.
Support site works, testing, commissioning and handover.
Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA and UAE standards.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

Perform heating and cooling
Load calculations
Using HAP or equivalent HVAC software
Design and size HVAC systems including Chillers and chilled-water systems, AHU, FAHU, FCUVRF, VRV systems, DX and packaged units, Ventilation and fresh-air systems, Exhaust and smoke-extraction systems
Perform duct sizing, chilled-water refrigerant pipe sizing, pressure-drop and ESP calculations
Select HVAC equipment based on project requirements, performance, efficiency, space constraints and operating conditions
Prepare HVAC layouts, schematics, equipment schedules, sections, details and design calculations
Prepare BOQ, BOM, material take-offs, technical specifications and equipment schedules
Coordinate HVAC designs with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, firefighting and BMS disciplines
Review consultant drawings, specifications, tender documents, RFIs and technical requirements
Prepare and review shop drawings and respond to technical comments
Review equipment selections, supplier quotations, technical submittals, datasheets and material samples
Support project teams during installation, site inspections, testing, balancing, commissioning and handover
Identify design clashes and site constraints and provide practical engineering solutions
Ensure designs comply with applicable ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA project specifications and UAE authority requirements
Assist with energy-efficiency and value-engineering initiatives
Maintain design calculations, drawings, revisions, technical submissions and project documentation

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC/Building Services Engineering
Min 5 years of HVAC design experience, preferably within the UAE/GCC/INDIA
Strong knowledge of HVAC design principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and psychrometrics
Practical experience with Carrier HAP or equivalent load-calculation software
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Revit/BIM experience is an advantage
Good knowledge of HVAC equipment selection and system sizing
Familiarity with ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA and applicable UAE/local authority requirements
Experience with Dubai Municipality, Civil Defence, DEWA, DDA or other relevant authority requirements is an advantage
Strong coordination, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
