Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Welding Engineering discipline and provide metallurgical consultative support for onshore and offshore projects
- Prepare Project Welding Qualification Execution Plans defining weld procedure scope, schedules, consumable quantities, and qualification requirements
- Establish project welding priorities aligned with project schedules and monitor execution progress
- Review and approve all project weld procedures through coordination with customers and certifying authorities
- Select appropriate welding electrodes based on physical, chemical, corrosion, weldability, and economic requirements
- Review project schedules, material control reports, and consumable estimates to optimize welding execution plans
- Manage welding school facilities for workforce training, welding methodology improvement, and workmanship development
- Support development and implementation of automatic welding systems and advanced welding technologies
- Prepare welding estimates and technical input for bids and project proposals
- Complete project-specific welding consumable estimations, requisitions, monitoring, and DOE consumables forecasting
- Perform readiness reviews for major offshore campaigns and critical project execution stages
- Coordinate with Fabrication Management, Marine Group, AWS group, and operations teams on future R and D developments
- Maintain technical contact with TWI, DNV, EWI, welding equipment manufacturers, and global welding technology groups
- Investigate metallurgical, welding, and quality failures and recommend fit-for-purpose corrective solutions
- Conduct evaluations of nonconforming work and support quality improvement strategies
- Visit vendor facilities for technical evaluations and supplier qualification reviews
- Monitor project performance during execution and support continuous welding process improvement
Ideal Profile
- Master's Degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, or related discipline preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Welding, Metallurgy, or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of directly related experience in welding engineering, metallurgy, materials, and subsea pipelines
- Strong expertise in welding procedures, consumables, metallurgy, and offshore fabrication operations
- Experience with ferrous and non-ferrous material welding systems
- Strong knowledge of certifying authority requirements and international welding standards
- Chartered Engineer, Senior Member Welding Institute, or professional body membership preferred
- Welding Inspection Qualification is highly preferred
- Strong leadership, technical communication, and vendor evaluation skills
