Job summary

McDermott International is seeking a Principal Welding Engineer for offshore and fabrication projects in Dubai. The role leads welding engineering, metallurgy, and quality assurance across major offshore, subsea pipeline, and fabrication activities, ensuring compliance with international codes and customer expectations.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in welding and metallurgy, experience with DNV/TWI/EWI, and a track record in project execution, procedures, and consumable control.

Qualifications

• Requires MS/MTech/ME in Welding Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years in welding engineering, metallurgy, materials, and subsea pipeline projects.
• Experience with certifying authorities (DNV/TWI/EWI) and welding quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead welding engineering discipline and provide metallurgical consultancy for offshore and onshore projects.
• Prepare and manage Project Welding Qualification Execution Plans including weld procedures, schedules, materials, and consumables.
• Review and approve all project weld procedures with customers and certifying authorities.
• Select electrodes and consumables based on chemical and weldability requirements.
• Develop and implement automatic welding systems and advanced welding technologies.
• Prepare estimates and technical input for bids, tenders, and proposals.
