Role Overview

Principal Package Management Specialist in Dubai, UAE is a senior EPCI package delivery role focused on managing purchase orders, subcontracts, supplier performance, cost control, schedule alignment, commercial coordination, and QHSES compliance. This role leads complex packages from award through execution, manages risks and opportunities, coordinates stakeholders, and provides executive-level progress visibility to project leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned purchase orders and subcontracts from early planning through execution, delivery, closeout, and lessons learned.
  • Ensure packages are delivered within approved budget, schedule, quality, safety, environmental, security, and project requirements.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Project Management Team and provide accurate short-term and long-term package outlooks.
  • Identify package risks, opportunities, mitigation actions, contingency plans, and recovery measures throughout execution.
  • Track package costs, commitments, changes, forecasts, bid basis, actual performance, and commercial exposure.
  • Coordinate with Project Controls to align cost forecasts, schedule priorities, progress updates, and reporting requirements.
  • Review required-on-site dates with schedulers and support priorities for installation work packages or advance work packages where applicable.
  • Interface with suppliers, subcontractors, engineering, supply chain, QHSES, construction, installation, commissioning, joint venture partners, clients, and end users.
  • Arrange and attend progress meetings, kick-off meetings, PIMs, supplier reviews, client meetings, and other key package coordination sessions.
  • Manage formal correspondence with suppliers, clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee day-to-day package processes, resolve technical and commercial bottlenecks, and ensure the right stakeholders are involved at the right time.
  • Enforce management of change requirements, project change notices, contractual flow-downs, and variation administration.
  • Manage documentation priorities between suppliers, McDermott, and clients to support cost-effective and schedule-driven delivery.
  • Review key documents including technical bid evaluations, commercial bid evaluations, purchase orders, supplier data, and package execution records.
  • Oversee team planning, resource allocation, package performance, and stakeholder alignment during project execution.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a relevant discipline.
  • 8–12 years of relevant experience in engineering, project management, package management, manufacturing, supply chain, or related EPCI project environments.
  • Strong understanding of Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation project phases.
  • Practical knowledge of package execution, supplier coordination, procurement workflows, expediting, logistics, material management, and post-award activities.
  • Commercial understanding of contracts, purchase orders, variations, commitments, supplier correspondence, and project change control.
  • Familiar with the requisitioning process from bid stage, clarifications, purchase order award, execution, receiving, and commissioning support.
  • Strong awareness of QHSES requirements and the ability to ensure compliance across package activities.
  • Proactive in identifying risks and opportunities related to quality, safety, budget, delivery, and schedule.
  • Strong leadership style with the ability to engage shop-floor teams, project teams, suppliers, clients, and executive management.
  • Excellent written, verbal, negotiation, reporting, and public speaking skills.
  • Willing to travel to supplier shops, offices, headquarters, job sites, laboratories, and other project-related locations when required.
  • PMP or Professional Engineer certification is an advantage.
