Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer to lead site supervision for major bridge and infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi. The role covers bridge structures, roadworks, drainage, and utility networks, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring conformance with drawings, specs, and contract requirements.

The position involves reviewing contractor submissions, monitoring progress, managing technical issues, and supporting handover activities with project stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional experience supervising and delivering major infrastructure and bridge construction projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of bridge structures, foundations, piling, and concrete works.
• Practical understanding of road construction, earthworks, drainage systems, and utility infrastructure.
• Experience supervising wet and dry utility construction activities.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary construction supervision teams.
• Experience coordinating with contractors, clients, designers, and relevant project stakeholders.
• Good understanding of construction contracts, technical specifications, quality procedures, and project controls.
• Experience reviewing contractor technical submissions and construction documentation.
• Practical experience in construction progress monitoring, inspections, testing and commissioning.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and coordination skills.
• Previous experience on major infrastructure and bridge projects in the United Arab Emirates is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead site supervision activities for major bridge and infrastructure construction works.
• Oversee construction of bridge foundations, piling, abutments, piers, and retaining walls.
• Supervise bridge deck construction and installation of bearings, expansion joints, barriers, and associated structural elements.
• Monitor concrete works and other structural construction activities for compliance with approved specifications.
• Review construction methods and technical requirements relating to bridge structures.
• Identify structural construction issues and coordinate appropriate technical solutions.
• Ensure bridge works comply with approved engineering drawings, project requirements, and applicable quality procedures.
• Oversee road construction, earthworks, and associated civil infrastructure activities.
• Monitor stormwater drainage, sewerage, potable water, and irrigation network construction.
• Coordinate supervision of electrical, telecommunications, and other utility infrastructure.
• Review construction interfaces between bridges, roads, drainage systems, and utility networks.
• Identify potential conflicts between infrastructure components and coordinate their resolution.
