Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Design to lead detailed mechanical design of MV switchgear panels and assemblies. You will ensure manufacturability, structural integrity, and IEC 62271 compliance while coordinating with electrical and production teams.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and 4–8 years of experience in switchgear or sheet metal enclosures, with hands-on SolidWorks/AutoCAD proficiency and a strong sense of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required.
• 4–8 years of experience in switchgear or similar sheet metal enclosures.
• Hands-on design of sheet metal enclosures, panel structures, and mounting.
• Familiarity with IEC 62271 and related mechanical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design sheet metal enclosures, panel structures and internal mounting for MV switchgear up to 36kV.
• Develop GA, fabrication and detailed part drawings and maintain libraries.
• Ensure IEC 62271 compliance for enclosure, IP protection and internal arc requirements.
• Perform structural strength checks and short-circuit mechanical considerations.
• Coordinate with electrical and production teams for manufacturability and clarity.
• Support design improvements and FAT preparations; address NCRs via root cause analysis.
