Job summary

Vertiv seeks a Senior Electrical Design Engineer – LV Switchgear to own end-to-end LV switchgear design activities and guide junior engineers. This hands-on role requires high technical maturity, independent decision-making, and frequent interaction with customers and internal stakeholders.

The successful candidate will lead design, BOM control, and coordination with manufacturing and project teams while ensuring adherence to IEC 61439 and project specifications.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
• 15-20 years of hands-on LV switchgear design and engineering experience.
• Strong exposure to PCC, MCC, APFC and Distribution Boards.
• Proficiency with SEE Electrical / ePLAN / AutoCAD Electrical.
• Knowledge of IEC 61439 and LV system design.
• Experience with protection coordination and switchgear assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Own and lead complete LV switchgear design lifecycle (PCC, MCC, APFC, Distribution Boards).
• Prepare, review and release SLDs, control schematics, GA drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Develop BOMs with cost effectiveness and manufacturability in mind.
• Ensure IEC 61439 compliance and alignment with project specs and codes.
• Define protection schemes, interlocking logic and control philosophies.
• Perform load calculations, short-circuit studies and thermal evaluations.
• Act as technical interface with customers, consultants and project teams.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing, Procurement, QA/QC and Project teams.
• Support FATs, design reviews, customer inspections and audits.
• Drive design standardization, value engineering and continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior engineers through design reviews and best-practice sharing.
