Job summary

Simone's Tutoring in Dubai seeks a talented, patient Music Tutor to provide personalised instrumental, vocal, and music-theory instruction to learners of various ages. The role is freelance and commission-based, with lessons conducted at students' homes, online, or at other suitable venues under UAE regulations.

You will assess learners, develop plans, deliver one-to-one or small-group lessons, prepare for exams, and adapt sessions for different needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Music, Music Education, Performance, Composition, Music Technology, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, an advanced recognised performance qualification with substantial teaching experience
  • MOHRE Tutor Permit or eligibility to obtain
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching music
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the applicant’s instrument, voice, or music specialism
  • Strong understanding of music theory, technique, and performance
  • Ability to teach learners at different ages and ability levels

Responsibilities

  • Assess learners’ musical ability, experience, interests, and goals
  • Develop personalised lesson plans and structured practice programmes
  • Deliver one-to-one and small-group instrumental, vocal, or music-theory lessons
  • Teach correct posture, technique, breathing, tone production, rhythm, and musical expression
  • Support learners in reading notation, understanding rhythm, and developing aural skills
  • Teach scales, chords, harmony, sight-reading, improvisation, and repertoire as appropriate
  • Prepare students for graded music examinations and performance assessments within the tutor’s expertise
  • Support examination pathways such as ABRSM, Trinity College London, Rockschool, LCM, or equivalent programmes
  • Help students prepare for school performances, auditions, competitions, recitals, and ensemble participation
  • Teach music theory, composition, songwriting, arranging, or music technology where appropriately qualified
  • Introduce learners to different musical styles, traditions, composers, and performance practices
  • Select suitable repertoire based on the learner’s age, ability, interests, and technical development
  • Develop confidence, creativity, discipline, stage presence, and performance skills
  • Provide clear practice guidance and help learners establish consistent home routines
  • Monitor technical and musical progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding practice, progress, and upcoming goals
  • Maintain, store, and use instruments and equipment responsibly
  • Support inclusive participation and adapt lessons for different learning needs where possible
  • Maintain appropriate safeguarding, professional boundaries, and noise-level awareness during in-home sessions

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced graded qualification, performance diploma, or conservatory training
  • Experience preparing students for ABRSM, Trinity, Rockschool, LCM, or equivalent examinations
  • Experience performing professionally or leading ensembles, choirs, bands, or orchestras
  • Ability to teach more than one instrument or a combination of practical music and theory
  • Experience teaching students with special educational needs
  • Experience with digital music production, recording, or composition software
UAE Licensing Requirements

Tutors and educational specialists operating in the UAE are required to hold a valid MOHRE Tutor Permit or equivalent work authorisation. Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, the relevant permit before providing in‑person services. Please ensure compliance with UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation regulations.

Any public performances, events, commercial recordings, or externally delivered music programmes must comply with applicable venue, event, copyright, and UAE regulatory requirements.
