Job summary

Simone’s Tutoring in Dubai seeks an experienced Science & STEM Competitions Tutor to prepare learners for science fairs, Olympiads, robotics challenges, hackathons, and interdisciplinary STEM events.

The role involves coaching on scientific inquiry, experimental design, data analysis, technical writing, and competition readiness across Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Technology. Flexible formats include online, student homes, and schools, with MOHRE permit requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM field is required.
  • MOHRE Tutor Permit or eligibility to obtain is required.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching STEM, science, engineering, coding, robotics, or competition preparation.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising research, practical projects, or STEM competitions.
  • Strong understanding of scientific method, engineering design, and project-based learning.
  • Strong technical writing, presentation, and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assess each learner’s scientific knowledge, technical skills, interests, and competition goals.
  • Identify suitable competitions aligned with learners’ ages, abilities, and areas of interest.
  • Develop personalised and team-based competition preparation plans.
  • Support science Olympiads, engineering challenges, innovation competitions, robotics contests, coding events, research fairs, and STEM exhibitions.
  • Teach scientific inquiry, experimental design, hypothesis development, variables, controls, observation, measurement, and evaluation.
  • Guide learners in conducting safe and ethical investigations.
  • Teach research methods, source evaluation, referencing, data collection, and data analysis.
  • Support Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Technology, Coding, Robotics, and interdisciplinary STEM projects within the tutor’s expertise.
  • Guide learners through the engineering design cycle.
  • Support prototype design, testing, refinement, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Teach problem-solving, logic, computational thinking, and systems thinking.
  • Help students interpret competition rules, judging criteria, submission requirements, and deadlines.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, task allocations, and progress milestones.
  • Support scientific reports, research posters, logbooks, presentations, demonstrations, and technical portfolios.
  • Coach students in explaining complex scientific ideas clearly.
  • Prepare learners for judging interviews, oral presentations, demonstrations, and question-and-answer sessions.
  • Conduct mock judging panels and competition simulations
  • Teach teamwork, leadership, collaboration, resilience, and ethical conduct.
  • Maintain clear boundaries regarding originality and ensure student submissions remain the learner’s own work.
  • Support appropriate use of AI and digital tools in accordance with competition rules.
  • Ensure safe handling of equipment, tools, chemicals, electrical components, and biological materials.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, schools, and team coordinators.
  • Maintain safeguarding, confidentiality, and accurate progress records.

Role Overview

We are seeking an innovative, academically strong, and highly organised Science & STEM Competitions Tutorto prepare children and teenagers for science fairs, Olympiads, robotics challenges, innovation competitions, research showcases, engineering contests, hackathons, and interdisciplinary STEM events.

The successful candidate will help learners develop scientific knowledge, research skills, experimental design, engineering thinking, data analysis, technical communication, teamwork, and competition readiness. Support may include individual coaching, small-group preparation, school teams, holiday programmes, STEM clubs, and intensive competition training.

Applicants should clearly identify the competition types, scientific disciplines, age groups, and technical platforms in which they have proven expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Assess each learner’s scientific knowledge, technical skills, interests, and competition goals

Identify suitable competitions aligned with learners’ ages, abilities, and areas of interest

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD in Science, Engineering, Technology, Mathematics, STEM Education, or a related field

PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or recognised teaching qualification

Previous experience as a competition coach, judge, mentor, researcher, laboratory educator, or STEM coordinator

Experience preparing students for recognised national or international competitions

Experience with Olympiads, science fairs, robotics competitions, innovation challenges, hackathons, research programmes, or maker events

Published research, patents, competition awards, or industry experience

Experience working in laboratories, makerspaces, innovation centres, or university outreach programmes

Training in laboratory safety, robotics, coding, engineering design, or research ethics

UAE Licensing Requirements

Tutors providing direct private educational instruction in the UAE must hold a valid MOHRE Tutor Permit or equivalent work authorisation.

All activities involving laboratories, chemicals, tools, electronics, robotics equipment, fieldwork, or experimental materials must comply with applicable UAE safety, venue, safeguarding, and supervision requirements.

The tutor must not guarantee competition selection, awards, rankings, publication, scholarships, or intellectual-property outcomes.

The tutor must ensure that learner submissions comply with competition rules on originality, collaboration, artificial intelligence, plagiarism, ethics, and adult assistance.

UAE Visa & Work Eligibility

Applicants must be legally authorised to work in the UAE through one of the following:

Any other valid UAE work authorisation

Required Experience
