Job summary

MTEC Electromechanical Works LLC in Abu Dhabi seeks a senior Mechanical Construction Lead to supervise and direct site execution of HVAC, plumbing, drainage and fire-fighting works. You will translate approved engineering into safe, high-quality installation across multiple trades and coordinate with allied teams on a large residential/hospitality project.

The role requires 15+ years of directly related experience, strong leadership and extensive knowledge of MEP installation, testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant mechanical construction experience on major MEP/building projects.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage and fire-fighting installation and testing.
• Proven ability to manage large labour forces and subcontractors across multiple fronts.
• Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, method statements, QA/QC processes.
• UAE/GCC experience on large residential or hotel projects preferred.
• Good knowledge of HSE and commissioning requirements.
• Strong leadership, coordination, reporting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and control day-to-day mechanical construction activities per drawings and programme.
• Develop look-ahead plans, forecasts, and coordinate access, logistics and materials.
• Supervise engineers, foremen and subcontractors with productivity targets.
• Ensure installations comply with shop drawings, specs and codes.
• Coordinate mechanical works with other trades to prevent clashes.
• Review constraints with BIM team and close RFIs and NCRs promptly.
• Work with QA/QC to plan inspections, tests and hold points.
• Enforce HSE, RAMS, permits and safe systems; participate in safety walks.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Lead site execution of mechanical MEP works, translating approved engineering into safe, high-quality and productive installation across HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire-fighting and associated systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and control day-to-day mechanical construction activities in accordance with approved drawings, method statements, programme and project priorities.
• Develop look-ahead plans, manpower/equipment forecasts and work-front priorities and coordinate access, logistics, permits and material readiness before deployment.
• Supervise engineers, supervisors, foremen and subcontractors and set measurable daily/weekly productivity and completion targets.
• Ensure HVAC, CHW, plumbing, drainage and fire-fighting installations comply with approved shop drawings, specifications, codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Coordinate mechanical works with electrical, civil, architectural, façade, ceiling and specialist trades to prevent clashes, rework and access constraints.
• Review site technical constraints with the technical/BIM team and ensure RFIs and coordinated solutions are closed before affecting progress.
• Work with QA/QC to plan inspections, pressure tests, flushing, duct leakage tests and other hold/witness points and close NCRs/snags promptly.
• Enforce HSE requirements, approved RAMS, permits and safe systems of work; participate in safety walks and corrective-action follow-up.
• Monitor material usage, wastage, subcontractor productivity and installation progress and provide reliable quantities/progress data for commercial and planning teams.
• Coordinate pre-commissioning, testing, balancing, functional testing and system handover with commissioning teams and vendors.
• Prepare construction status reports, constraint logs, recovery actions and manpower/resource requests for the MEP Project Manager.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant qualification.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant mechanical construction experience on major MEP/building projects.
• Strong hands‑on knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage and fire‑fighting installation and testing methodologies.
• Proven ability to manage large labour forces, supervisors and specialist subcontractors across multiple work fronts.
• Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection processes, productivity and sequencing.
• UAE/GCC experience on large residential, high-rise, hotel, commercial or mixed-use projects is strongly preferred.
• Good knowledge of HSE, QA/QC and commissioning requirements for mechanical works.
• Strong leadership, coordination, reporting and problem‑solving skills.
