Job summary

MTEC Electromechanical Works LLC in Abu Dhabi seeks a Senior QA/QC Lead to manage the quality management function across mechanical and electrical works. You will ensure all works, materials, inspections, testing and handover records meet contract requirements, ISO 9001 standards, and client expectations, while driving improvements and reducing rework on major projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 20+ years QA/QC in MEP.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ITPs, inspection/testing, NCR/CAPA, and audits.
• Experience leading large QA/QC teams on major construction/MEP projects.
• UAE/GCC working experience with consultant/client inspection regimes preferred.
• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification preferred.
• Proven ability to reduce rework and inspection rejections.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement project quality plans, procedures, ITPs, checklists, inspection strategies and quality KPIs in line with ISO 9001 and client requirements.
• Lead QA/QC staffing, deployment, competency assessment and discipline coverage across mechanical and electrical work fronts.
• Review method statements, ITPs, material submittals and technical documentation from a quality perspective before execution.
• Oversee NCR, SOR/punch, corrective/preventive action and root-cause processes.
• Conduct internal audits and project surveillance; coordinate external/client audits; maintain readiness for ISO reviews.
• Verify calibration, inspection/test equipment, material traceability and quality records are current.
• Coordinate with construction, engineering and commissioning to ensure inspection readiness.
• Monitor subcontractor quality performance and ensure corrective actions for defects.
• Oversee quality close-out, snag/punch clearance, testing dossiers and as-built documentation.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Lead the MEP quality management function and ensure works, materials, inspections, testing and handover records comply with contract requirements, approved documents, applicable standards and the company quality management system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and implement project quality plans, procedures, ITPs, checklists, inspection strategies and quality KPIs in line with ISO 9001 and client/consultant requirements.
• Lead QA/QC staffing, deployment, competency assessment and discipline coverage across mechanical and electrical work fronts.
• Review method statements, ITPs, material submittals and technical documentation from a quality-compliance perspective before execution.
• Oversee MIR/WIR processes, source inspections, factory tests where required, installation inspections, testing records and consultant/client inspection coordination.
• Manage NCR, SOR/punch, corrective/preventive action and root-cause processes and ensure recurrence is prevented through trend analysis and lessons learned.
• Conduct internal audits and project surveillance and coordinate external/client/consultant audits; maintain readiness for ISO and project quality reviews.
• Verify that calibration, inspection/test equipment, material traceability, approvals and quality records are current and properly controlled.
• Coordinate closely with construction, engineering and commissioning teams to ensure inspection readiness and prevent rework and rejected inspections.
• Monitor subcontractor/supplier quality performance and require corrective action for repeated defects or documentation failures.
• Oversee quality close-out, snag/punch clearance, testing dossiers, O&M quality records and as-built documentation for handover.
• Report quality trends, rejection rates, NCR aging, inspection performance and improvement actions to project and executive management.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 20 years of QA/QC experience in construction/MEP, including senior quality-management responsibility on major projects.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems, ITPs, inspection/testing processes, NCR/CAPA and audit methodology.
• Strong multidisciplinary understanding of HVAC, plumbing, fire-fighting, electrical and ELV installation quality requirements.
• UAE/GCC experience with consultant/client inspection regimes on large building projects is strongly preferred.
• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification is strongly preferred; additional discipline-specific certifications are advantageous.
• Proven ability to lead large QA/QC teams and drive measurable reduction in rework and inspection rejection.
• Strong reporting, root-cause analysis, coaching and stakeholder-management skills.
