Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily site inspections for construction materials used in roads, bridges, tunnels, utilities, concrete works, and related civil infrastructure activities.
- Inspect delivered materials against approved submittals, specifications, test certificates, mill certificates, supplier documentation, and traceability requirements.
- Conduct and witness sampling and testing for soils, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, reinforcement steel, structural steel, water, and utility‑related materials.
- Verify that all field and laboratory testing follows approved inspection and test plans, project requirements, and applicable standards.
- Reject, report, and record non‑conforming materials that do not meet approved specifications or authority requirements.
- Inspect material storage, handling, stacking, protection, and identification in stockyards, warehouses, and active construction zones.
- Review roadworks materials, concrete materials, reinforcement, structural steel, tunnel materials, bridge components, and utility products for compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Maintain accurate material inspection records, sampling registers, test logs, delivery records, observation notes, and supporting documentation.
- Support the preparation of NCRs, quality observations, and corrective action tracking for material‑related issues.
- Coordinate with the Material Engineer, Site Engineers, QA/QC teams, safety personnel, laboratory representatives, and contractor teams.
- Provide clear inspection inputs for daily reports, weekly summaries, quality updates, and project progress documentation.
- Read and interpret drawings, material submittals, method statements, inspection requests, test reports, and compliance documents.
- Monitor site activities to ensure approved materials are used in the correct locations and according to project requirements.
- Assist in authority‑related quality checks involving Dubai Municipality, RTA, DEWA, and other relevant utility authorities.
- Support continuous improvement in material quality control, inspection discipline, and documentation accuracy across the project.
Ideal Profile
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in materials inspection within construction or infrastructure projects.
- At least 5 years of experience on roads, bridges, tunnels, utilities, or major infrastructure works.
- Minimum 2 years of UAE or GCC experience, preferably on Dubai‑based civil infrastructure projects.
- Strong hands‑on experience with field and laboratory testing for concrete, asphalt, soils, aggregates, steel, and utility materials.
- Working knowledge of RTA specifications, Dubai Municipality quality requirements, ASTM, BS EN, AASHTO, ACI, DEWA standards, and inspection test plans.
- Ability to understand approved drawings, technical submittals, mill certificates, laboratory reports, and material compliance records.
- Experience with DAC‑accredited laboratory procedures and reporting will be an advantage.
- RTA or Dubai Municipality approval as a Material Inspector is preferred.
- Familiarity with NCR processes, quality systems, inspection documentation, and site reporting requirements.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple inspections in a fast‑paced construction environment.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel for reports, registers, logs, and inspection documentation.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with engineers, laboratories, contractors, and site teams.
