Parsons Corporation is hiring an experienced materials inspection professional to verify delivered and installed materials, witness laboratory and field testing, review compliance with approved specifications, and support consistent quality standards throughout construction.
The Material Inspector will support construction supervision by ensuring materials arriving at site and incorporated into permanent works comply with approved project requirements. The role involves field sampling, laboratory coordination, in-situ testing, source verification, and close cooperation with Work Inspectors, the Senior Work Inspector, and the Senior Materials Engineer. Accurate and timely inspection is essential to preventing unsuitable materials from entering construction, reducing rework, and helping roads, bridges, concrete structures, and utilities meet required quality and durability standards.
Candidates should hold a technical diploma or degree in a relevant discipline with at least five years of experience performing similar materials inspection work. Civil Engineering graduates may qualify with at least three years of relevant experience on roads, bridges, concrete, utilities, or similar infrastructure projects. The position requires the ability to read and understand working drawings, construction specifications, Inspection and Test Plans, method statements, and related technical documentation. Candidates should be confident enforcing approved specifications and contract requirements when materials do not meet required standards. Practical understanding of construction materials, sampling, laboratory testing, field testing, quality control, and quality assurance is essential. The successful candidate should be fully computer literate and comfortable using project-specific engineering and construction software to retrieve information, maintain records, and prepare reports. Good written and spoken communication skills are required, together with the ability to coordinate effectively with inspectors, engineers, contractors, laboratories, and wider project teams.
