Job summary

Qualifications

  • Previous involvement in major roads, bridges, highways, drainage, or transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Middle East construction experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with RTA specifications, project quality plans, inspection and test plans, and material approval procedures.
  • Working knowledge of concrete, asphalt, aggregates, soil, reinforcement steel, and backfilling materials.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, method statements, and approved material submittals.
  • Experience preparing inspection reports, test registers, material logs, NCRs, and quality documentation.
  • Strong observational skills with the ability to detect material defects and specification deviations.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with contractors, laboratories, suppliers, engineers, and quality teams.
  • Ability to work independently across active construction sites and manage multiple inspection priorities.
  • Commitment to safe working practices and accurate technical documentation.
  • Availability to attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect construction materials delivered to site and confirm compliance with approved specifications, drawings, and material submittals.
  • Verify supplier approvals, manufacturer details, delivery notes, batch certificates, source approvals, and laboratory test reports.
  • Conduct material sampling and witness laboratory and field tests in accordance with approved inspection and test plans.
  • Inspect soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, reinforcement steel, backfill, and other civil engineering materials.
  • Ensure materials used for roads, bridges, culverts, drainage systems, and utility works meet project and RTA requirements.
  • Monitor material storage, stacking, handling, identification, and protection to prevent contamination, segregation, deterioration, or physical damage.
  • Confirm that materials originate from approved suppliers, manufacturers, quarries, batching plants, and testing laboratories.
  • Coordinate testing schedules, inspection requirements, and material approvals with the Material Engineer and Site Engineer.
  • Observe asphalt paving, concrete placement, earthworks, compaction, and backfilling activities to verify correct materials and workmanship.
  • Review Work Inspection Requests related to material acceptance and civil construction activities.
  • Maintain traceable records of inspections, samples, test results, approvals, rejections, and material usage.
  • Identify non-conforming materials and issue non-conformance reports or site observations when required.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions until satisfactory closure is achieved.
  • Monitor quantities and material consumption to identify wastage, misuse, substitution, or deviation from approved requirements.
  • Support RTA inspections, technical audits, and project quality reviews by providing records and site assistance.
  • Follow health, safety, and environmental requirements during inspection, sampling, transportation, and testing activities.
  • Prepare daily reports covering delivered materials, inspections completed, tests witnessed, outstanding approvals, and site concerns.
  • Escalate material quality risks and unresolved technical issues to the Material Engineer or Resident Engineer.
