Role Context

The Librarian - School Learning Resources role supports the academic life of Bateen World Academy by helping students and teachers access books, digital resources, research materials, and reading support. The position contributes to literacy development, independent learning, classroom enrichment, and a well-managed library environment. Working closely with educators and school teams, the librarian will help create an inviting space where students can explore ideas, strengthen research skills, build reading confidence, and connect with high-quality learning resources.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day library operations and maintain a welcoming, organized, and purposeful learning space for students and staff.
• Support students in finding books, digital resources, reference materials, and research content suitable for their age and learning needs.
• Promote a strong reading culture across the school through book displays, reading initiatives, library activities, and student engagement.
• Assist teachers with selecting library resources that support curriculum topics, inquiry-based learning, and classroom projects.
• Maintain accurate records of library borrowing, returns, cataloguing, resource usage, and stock movement.
• Organize books, learning materials, digital content, and reference resources so they remain easy to access and well presented.
• Support students with information literacy, research habits, responsible use of sources, and independent learning skills.
• Help plan and deliver library-based activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and academic confidence.
• Monitor the condition of books and library resources, arranging repairs, replacements, or withdrawals where required.
• Contribute to displays and themed reading areas that reflect school values, student interests, curriculum links, and cultural events.
• Work with teaching teams to support IB, IGCSE, BTEC, and wider school learning pathways through relevant library resources.
• Encourage respectful library behavior and help students use shared learning spaces responsibly.
• Support school events, literacy weeks, reading challenges, author activities, exhibitions, and community engagement initiatives.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct when working with students, staff, families, and school information.
• Use library systems, school communication tools, and basic office applications to manage daily tasks efficiently.
• Follow safeguarding expectations, child protection procedures, school policies, and UAE education regulations at all times.

Ideal Profile

• UAE National candidate.
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Education, Information Studies, English, or a related field is preferred.
