Overview

School Librarian - Learning Resources in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a Primary-Secondary Education hiring opportunity for a qualified library professional who can manage school library services, support student research, promote reading culture, and provide teachers with curriculum-aligned learning resources. Salary

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the school library collection, including books, reference materials, digital resources, e-books, and educational databases.
• Maintain an organized, updated, and accessible library environment that supports reading, research, and independent study.
• Classify, catalog, label, and shelve new library materials according to standard library practices.
• Develop and follow library procedures for borrowing, returns, overdue books, resource tracking, and student access.
• Assist students in selecting age-appropriate books and developing positive reading habits.
• Guide students in research methods, information literacy, source evaluation, and responsible use of digital information.
• Support teachers by recommending books, reference materials, and instructional resources aligned with curriculum needs.
• Organize reading programs, book fairs, literacy activities, library events, and student engagement initiatives.
• Maintain digital library systems and support access to online research tools, e-books, and learning platforms.
• Keep accurate records of library transactions, overdue materials, resource usage, and inventory updates.
• Support procurement planning by identifying new books, learning resources, and digital tools required for the library.
• Manage the library budget in coordination with school administration when required.
• Collaborate with teachers, coordinators, and school leaders to strengthen the library's role in student learning.
• Stay updated with library technology, education trends, reading programs, and modern learning resource practices.
• Ensure the library remains welcoming, well-maintained, safe, and suitable for student-centered learning.

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor's degree or master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
• Bachelor's degree or master's degree in English with experience in teaching and library management may also be considered.
• Previous experience as a librarian is preferred, especially within a school environment.
• Strong knowledge of library management systems, cataloging methods, and digital research tools.
• Good understanding of student learning needs, reading development, and school resource support.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for literacy, education, student support, and reading culture.
• Ability to work with students, teachers, parents, and administrators in a professional school setting.
• Confident using digital library systems, e-books, online databases, and educational technology.
• Familiarity with UAE educational policies and curriculum requirements will be an advantage.
