Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Resident Engineer – Bridges/Tunnels in Abu Dhabi to lead construction supervision of bridge and tunnel works on a major infrastructure project. You will manage site supervision teams, coordinate with contractor and project team, and ensure works comply with drawings, specs, programme, quality requirements and project objectives.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and about 15 years of UAE/infrastructure project experience, with strong knowledge of foundations,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 15 years of relevant experience in supervision and delivery of major bridge and tunnel projects.
• Strong experience in structural and infrastructure construction.
• Good knowledge of bridge and tunnel construction methods, inspection, testing, and quality requirements.
• Experience managing site supervision teams and coordinating with Contractors and project stakeholders.
• Ability to review technical submissions, drawings, method statements, programmes, and construction documentation.
• UAE experience on major infrastructure projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the site supervision team for bridge, tunnel, and associated infrastructure works.
• Supervise bridge construction including foundations, piling, pile caps, abutments, piers, retaining walls, decks, bearings, expansion joints, barriers, and associated works.
• Supervise tunnel construction including excavation, structural works, concrete, waterproofing, drainage, backfilling, and associated structures.
• Review and monitor contractor submissions, including method statements, shop drawings, material submittals, inspection and testing requirements.
• Monitor construction progress, quality, and compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Coordinate with the Contractor, project management team, designers, surveyors, and other disciplines to resolve technical and site issues.
• Monitor interfaces between bridges/tunnels and roads, earthworks, utilities, drainage, and other infrastructure works.
• Review Inspection Requests, RFIs, NCRs, testing records, and other project documentation.
• Ensure proper inspection, testing, commissioning, and completion of bridge and tunnel works.
• Monitor the Contractor’s programme, progress, manpower, resources, and recovery measures where required.
• Identify construction issues, coordinate resolutions, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Lead progress and coordination meetings and provide updates on construction activities and key issues.
• Ensure proper documentation and records are maintained throughout construction and closeout.
• Support the Project Manager in managing project delivery, risks, interfaces, and client requirements.
• Support handover and closeout activities, including as-built drawings, testing records, O&M documentation, and outstanding works.
