Land Surveyor - Roads Highways in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a Civil Engineering opportunity for an experienced survey professional with strong knowledge of road construction, highway layouts, control points, setting out, as‑built surveys, and contractor coordination.
The role is suited for a site‑focused land surveyor who can deliver accurate measurements, verify alignments and levels, support construction supervision, and maintain reliable survey documentation for major transportation infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform survey work under the direction of the Senior Highway Surveyor for road and highway construction activities.
- Establish primary horizontal and vertical control points with accurate reference ties, field measurements, and calculations.
- Conduct pre‑construction surveys to verify existing site conditions before construction layout and setting out begins.
- Carry out construction layout, staking, and setting out for roads, pavements, curbs, drainage works, utilities, and associated infrastructure.
- Monitor contractor work alignment, levels, grading, and coordinates against approved drawings and project requirements.
- Coordinate with the contractor's surveyor and Resident Engineer to resolve discrepancies, site deviations, and technical measurement issues.
- Check survey accuracy by completing traverse closures, bench circuits, control checks, and level verification.
- Maintain accurate field books, survey records, measurement sheets, reports, and maps throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare as‑built drawings and support the documentation of completed works for project reporting and handover.
- Use modern GPS, total stations, survey instruments, computer software, and digital tools for accurate site measurements.
- Maintain survey equipment in proper working condition and perform regular calibration checks in line with quality procedures.
- Support verification of contractor progress, completed works, and field measurements for reporting and payment‑related documentation.
- Ensure all survey operations are carried out in line with site safety procedures and active construction zone requirements.
- Provide timely survey information to support engineers, construction teams, and project management decision‑making.
- Assist in maintaining quality standards by identifying measurement errors, alignment concerns, or grading issues before they affect construction progress.
Ideal Profile & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with 8‑12 years of experience as a Land Surveyor.
- 3 years diploma in a relevant field with equivalency certificate is mandatory.
- DM approval or RTA approval is mandatory.
- Minimum 3 years of UAE experience is required.
- Roads and highways project experience will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of land surveying for transportation infrastructure, road construction, pavements, curbs, drainage, and utilities.
- Practical experience with control points, setting out, pre‑construction surveys, as‑built surveys, traverse closures, and bench circuits.
- Ability to use modern GPS, total stations, survey software, and computer‑based measurement tools.
- Good understanding of approved drawings, levels, alignments, grading, coordinate systems, and construction documentation.
- Strong attention to detail with accurate field recording, calculation, and reporting skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with contractor surveyors, resident engineers, site teams, and project supervision staff.
- UAE‑based candidates will be preferred.
- Safety‑conscious approach with ability to work efficiently on active infrastructure construction sites.
