Responsibilities

  • Carry out land surveying activities under the direction of the Senior Highway Surveyor.
  • Establish primary horizontal and vertical control points for construction works.
  • Create and maintain reference ties for re-establishing survey control points in the field.
  • Record measurements, coordinates, elevations, and calculations in field books and survey records.
  • Coordinate daily surveying priorities with the contractor's survey team.
  • Verify survey work by completing traverse closures and accuracy checks.
  • Identify discrepancies and report to the Assistant Resident Engineer.
  • Perform joint measurements for progress verification and payment purposes.
  • Check road alignments, levels, profiles, and setting-out information against drawings.
  • Maintain surveying instruments and perform regular calibration.

Role Context The Land Surveyor - Roads and Highway Projects will provide field surveying support for a major infrastructure project in Dubai, ensuring that construction activities are established and verified against approved coordinates, levels, alignments, and design requirements. Working under senior surveying and engineering supervision, the role will help maintain measurement accuracy across roadworks, interchanges, intersections, and associated infrastructure while supporting progress verification and payment measurement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out land surveying activities under the direction of the Senior Highway Surveyor.
  • Establish primary horizontal and vertical control points required for construction works.
  • Create and maintain reference ties that allow survey control points to be reliably re‑established in the field.
  • Record measurements, rod readings, coordinates, elevations, and calculations accurately in field books and survey records.
  • Coordinate daily surveying priorities and work schedules with the contractor 's survey team.
  • Verify survey work by completing traverse closures, bench circuits, and other accuracy checks.
  • Identify discrepancies in coordinates, levels, alignments, or field information and report them to the Assistant Resident Engineer.
  • Perform joint measurements of completed construction works for progress verification and payment purposes.
  • Check road alignments, levels, profiles, slopes, and setting‑out information against approved drawings.
  • Support surveying requirements for expressways, interchanges, intersections, drainage, utilities, and associated civil infrastructure.
  • Maintain surveying instruments and accessories in proper operating condition.
  • Carry out frequent calibration and accuracy checks on survey equipment.
  • Review field measurements before submitting survey information for engineering or commercial use.
  • Coordinate with construction supervision teams to resolve surveying issues that could affect site progress.
  • Maintain organized records of survey calculations, field observations, control points, and measurement data.
  • Support verification of existing utility and infrastructure networks within Dubai before and during construction activities.
Ideal Profile
  • Relevant university or college qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • Diploma-level Civil Engineering or Surveying qualification where applicable.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in construction surveying or construction supervision.
  • Strong experience on expressway, highway, or major road infrastructure projects.
  • Practical knowledge of interchange and intersection construction.
  • Previous project exposure within Dubai and familiarity with existing infrastructure networks in the emirate.
  • RTA or Dubai Municipality approval is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of horizontal and vertical control systems.
  • Experience with traverse calculations, bench circuits, setting‑out, and joint measurements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, road profiles, coordinates, levels, and survey information.
  • Competence in modern surveying equipment and associated computer software.
