Job description

Role Context

The Land Surveyor will provide the field measurement and verification needed to translate approved engineering designs into accurate construction positions. The role supports infrastructure works including pipelines, shafts, chambers, utilities, and associated civil structures by ensuring that horizontal alignments, vertical levels, coordinates, benchmarks, and structural locations remain within approved tolerances. Accurate survey control and reliable as-built information are essential to preventing costly construction errors, resolving site discrepancies, supporting certification, and maintaining confidence in final project records. The position therefore combines field surveying, digital data management, technical coordination, and quality verification throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out topographic, control, and setting-out surveys for infrastructure and civil construction activities.
  • Establish and maintain survey control points, benchmarks, reference grids, and coordinate systems required for field execution.
  • Transfer approved design information accurately to site using established survey procedures and modern instruments.
  • Verify horizontal and vertical alignments before and during construction to confirm conformity with approved drawings.
  • Check pipe inverts, chamber positions, shaft locations, structural coordinates, and associated civil works against specified tolerances.
  • Perform as-built surveys after construction activities and verify contractor-submitted survey information before certification.
  • Review as-built drawings and compare recorded coordinates and levels with field measurements.
  • Operate GPS systems, Total Stations, and other modern surveying instruments for precise data collection.
  • Maintain structured field books, digital survey files, measurement records, control information, and supporting documentation.
  • Analyse collected survey data and prepare clear technical reports identifying discrepancies, deviations, and recommended corrective measures.
  • Coordinate directly with contractors and supervision personnel when survey conflicts or construction deviations arise.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings, coordination sessions, and progress reviews to provide updates on survey activities.
  • Work with engineering teams to resolve discrepancies between site conditions, design drawings, and construction requirements.
  • Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities by verifying final coordinates, levels, and completed installations.
  • Follow applicable HSE procedures during field activities, particularly around excavations, infrastructure corridors, machinery, and active construction areas.
  • Ensure survey information remains traceable, accurately documented, and available for project quality and handover records.
Ideal Profile

Candidates should hold a Diploma or Bachelor 's Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Professional certification related to surveying instruments or survey data management will be advantageous. The role requires practical experience carrying out topographic surveys, control surveys, setting-out operations, and as-built verification on infrastructure or construction projects. Candidates should be confident working independently in the field while also coordinating effectively with contractors, engineers, supervision consultants, and project management teams. Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, surveying applications, GPS equipment, and Total Station instruments is important. Strong mathematical capability and careful attention to coordinate accuracy, levels, tolerances, and digital records are essential. Knowledge of relevant UAE standards and familiarity with authority requirements such as RTA, DM, and DEWA standards will strengthen suitability for the position. The preferred surveyor will also demonstrate sound HSE awareness, accurate technical reporting, resilience in demanding field conditions, and a disciplined approach to maintaining survey records.
