The successful candidate should have good knowledge of the UAE healthcare insurance system and experience working with medical insurance companies and TPAs.
1. Insurance Eligibility & Verification
Verify patient insurance eligibility and coverage before appointments and treatments.
Check insurance benefits, coverage limits, exclusions, co-payments and deductibles.
Confirm whether specific medical services require pre-authorization.
Communicate with insurance companies and TPAs regarding patient eligibility and benefits.
Ensure patient insurance information is accurately recorded in the system.
Assist patients with insurance-related inquiries.
2. Pre-Authorization
Submit pre-authorization requests to insurance companies and TPAs.
Follow up on pending approvals and provide additional documents when required.
Coordinate with doctors and clinical staff to obtain medical reports, diagnoses, prescriptions and supporting documents.
Monitor approval status and ensure timely responses.
Communicate approval or rejection information to the relevant departments and patients.
Maintain accurate records of all authorization requests and decisions.
3. Claims Management
Prepare and submit medical insurance claims accurately and on time.
Review claims documentation before submission.
Ensure claims comply with insurance company and TPA requirements.
Follow up on rejected, denied or pending claims.
Investigate claim discrepancies and coordinate corrections.
Resubmit corrected claims when required.
Maintain proper records of submitted, approved, rejected and paid claims.
4. Insurance Companies & TPA Coordination
Communicate with insurance companies and TPAs regarding eligibility, approvals, claims and payment issues.
Coordinate with major UAE healthcare insurance networks and TPAs.
Maintain professional relationships with insurance representatives.
Follow up on outstanding insurance payments and claims.
Assist management with insurance provider onboarding and network registration when required.
Maintain updated contact information and requirements for insurance companies and TPAs.
5. Patient Support
Explain insurance coverage and basic billing procedures to patients in a clear and professional manner.
Inform patients of applicable co-payments, deductibles or non-covered services.
Assist patients with insurance-related questions and concerns.
Handle insurance complaints professionally and elevate complex issues when necessary.
Provide support to VIP and international patients regarding insurance arrangements.
6. Billing & Finance Coordination
Coordinate with the Finance Department regarding insurance billing and collections.
Ensure services are billed correctly according to approved insurance coverage.
Verify insurance-related invoices and supporting documentation.
Follow up on outstanding insurance receivables.
Assist with reconciliation of insurance payments and claims.
Identify discrepancies between approved amounts, billed amounts and received payments.
7. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate insurance records and claim documentation.
Keep records of pre-authorizations, claims, approvals, rejections and payments.
Prepare regular insurance and claims reports for management.
Monitor claim status and outstanding receivables.
Assist with internal and external audits.
Ensure patient insurance information is handled confidentially.
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, Accounting or a related field.
2–4 years of experience in medical insurance, healthcare administration, insurance coordination or claims processing.
Experience working in a medical center, hospital or clinic in the UAE is highly preferred.
Good knowledge of the UAE healthcare insurance system.
Experience dealing with TPAs and insurance companies is highly preferred.
Experience with pre-authorization, claims submission, rejection management and insurance reconciliation.
Knowledge of medical billing and healthcare claims procedures.
Familiarity with DHA-related healthcare and insurance requirements is an advantage.
Experience with HIS, EMR, insurance portals or medical billing systems.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
