Role Context As construction advances, the Quantity Surveyor will maintain an accurate link between physical progress, contractual obligations, and project expenditure. The position will examine contractor applications, substantiate changes, and provide dependable commercial information that supports informed decisions and fair contract administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Calculate quantities from approved contract drawings and technical specifications.
  • Price measured work using bills of quantities and applicable contractual rates.
  • Process post-contract matters involving interim valuations, final payments, variations, claims, and cash flow.
  • Examine contractor payment applications and request missing substantiation where necessary.
  • Confirm completed quantities through site measurement and supporting records.
  • Audit payments to verify alignment with certified work and contractual provisions.
  • Provide commercial advice to engineers and project management personnel.
  • Check the validity and completeness of contractual notices and supporting documents.
  • Analyze contractor resource deployment where it relates to productivity, valuation, or claims.
  • Compile variation assessments for additional, omitted, or revised works.
  • Review labor, materials, and equipment recorded under day-work arrangements.
  • Maintain traceable expenditure, valuation, variation, and payment files.
  • Update estimates of the anticipated final contract cost.
  • Identify potential budget movement and explain the underlying commercial drivers.
  • Analyze submitted claims and support negotiations concerning entitlement and value.
  • Draft settlement records and contractual correspondence.
  • Coordinate the workload of assigned commercial team members.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management-reporting information.
  • Contribute to final payment assessment and commercial closeout.
Ideal Profile

The role requires a bachelor 's degree in civil engineering or quantity surveying and between eight and ten years of experience working on large infrastructure projects. Candidates should possess working knowledge of both pre-contract and post-contract processes, with particular strength in construction measurement, valuations, variations, and claims. They must interpret commercial documents, drawings, bills of quantities, and specifications accurately. Recognition as a Quantity Surveyor by an appropriate UAE authority is desirable. Familiarity with AutoCAD will also be useful when checking dimensions and extracting information from project drawings. Strong numerical reasoning, organized record-keeping, and the ability to work with limited supervision are important. Applicants must communicate commercial conclusions clearly to technical and management teams.
