Role Context

The Inclusion Teacher will provide specialised academic and developmental support for students who require additional assistance to access the National Curriculum for England successfully. Working within a large mainstream school, the teacher will identify barriers to learning, adapt instructional approaches, deliver targeted interventions, and help students develop greater independence and confidence. The position also supports the wider inclusion strategy of GEMS Wesgreen International School by strengthening collaboration between teachers, students, families, and support teams. Effective intervention and monitoring will help ensure that individual learning needs are addressed without limiting students ' participation in mainstream school life. Key Responsibilities* Provide targeted teaching and intervention for students with Special Educational Needs and additional learning requirements.* Adapt curriculum content, teaching materials, and classroom activities so students can access learning at an appropriate level.* Work closely with mainstream teachers to develop practical strategies for inclusive classroom instruction.* Support students with a range of academic, behavioural, communication, social, or developmental needs.* Develop individualised learning objectives and appropriate intervention plans based on identified student requirements.* Monitor student progress carefully and adjust support strategies when expected improvement is not achieved.* Use assessment information, teacher observations, and student performance evidence to identify learning barriers and priorities.* Provide one-to-one or small-group instruction where targeted support can improve participation and attainment.* Help students develop independent learning strategies, confidence, organisation, and appropriate classroom behaviours.* Contribute to the preparation and review of individual education plans and related student support documentation.* Maintain accurate records covering interventions, progress, targets, observations, and outcomes.* Collaborate with class teachers when differentiating lessons, assessments, homework, and learning resources.* Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress, agreed targets, and strategies that can reinforce learning.* Work constructively with learning support staff, pastoral teams, counsellors, and other relevant school professionals.* Promote an inclusive school culture that values individual differences and ensures students are treated with dignity and respect.* Contribute to transition planning when students move between year groups, phases, or levels of support.* Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, inclusion reviews, and wider school improvement activities.* Maintain appropriate safeguarding, confidentiality, and student wellbeing standards in all areas of practice.* Follow GEMS policies, school procedures, and applicable UAE educational requirements.

Ideal Profile

Candidates should hold a B.Ed or an appropriate bachelor 's degree together with a PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent recognised teaching qualification. The qualification should include a specialisation in Inclusion, Special Educational Needs, Special Education, or another closely related educational field. Applicants must have at least 1 year of teaching experience within an Inclusion, Special Educational Needs, or Special Education setting. Previous experience supporting students with varied additional learning needs within a mainstream school environment is required. Candidates should also have practical experience teaching or supporting the National Curriculum for England and understand how curriculum expectations can be adapted without unnecessarily restricting student access or progression.
