Key Responsibilities
- Support secondary students with additional learning needs through targeted inclusion strategies and classroom-based provision.
- Work with teachers to plan and implement appropriate support, adaptations, and learning interventions.
- Contribute to the development and review of student support plans, learning targets, and progress records.
- Help students access the secondary curriculum with confidence, independence, and improved learning outcomes.
- Use assessment evidence and progress data to identify barriers to learning and recommend practical support strategies.
- Promote inclusive teaching practice across departments through collaboration, guidance, and shared professional knowledge.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders to support academic and personal development.
- Encourage student confidence, resilience, self-advocacy, and engagement in school life.
- Support the school's inclusive culture by contributing to professional discussions, meetings, enrichment activities, and community events.
- Role model the values of integrity, empathy, and fortitude in all professional interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow safeguarding expectations, GEMS policies, and school procedures at all times.
Ideal Profile
- BEd or Bachelor's degree with PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Proven experience teaching or supporting Secondary SENDco, inclusion, special education, or learning support provision.
- Strong understanding of inclusive education, differentiated instruction, and student support strategies.
- Ability to work effectively with secondary students who need academic, emotional, or learning access support.
- Proven track record of outstanding learning and teaching.
- Reflective and solution-focused mindset with willingness to collaborate and share effective practice.
- Creative and enthusiastic approach to supporting students inside and outside the classroom.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working closely with colleagues, students, parents, and school leadership.
