Role Context

The Inclusion Teacher will provide specialist educational support for students whose additional learning needs require targeted intervention beyond standard classroom differentiation. The role focuses on identifying specific barriers, establishing appropriate support strategies and measuring whether those interventions are producing meaningful improvements in learning, participation and independence. Success requires close integration with mainstream teaching. By working alongside classroom and subject teachers, the Inclusion team, ELL specialists, counsellors, pastoral colleagues and families, the teacher will help create consistent support around each learner while maintaining ambitious expectations for achievement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify students requiring additional educational support through assessment evidence, observation and collaboration with teaching colleagues.
  • Plan and deliver structured individual and small-group interventions matched to identified learning priorities.
  • Develop, implement and review Individual Education Plans and equivalent personalised student support plans.
  • Establish clear and measurable targets that enable student progress to be evaluated effectively.
  • Track academic and developmental outcomes and adjust interventions when evidence indicates a different approach is required.
  • Work alongside classroom and subject teachers to identify and remove barriers to curriculum access.
  • Recommend practical differentiation, scaffolding, accommodations and personalised learning strategies.
  • Support students in transferring skills developed through intervention into mainstream classroom learning.
  • Build confidence and independence rather than creating unnecessary reliance on additional adult support.
  • Help students strengthen engagement, self-management and participation in the wider learning environment.
  • Analyse assessment and progress information to determine the effectiveness of current provision.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation covering student needs, interventions, targets and review outcomes.
  • Communicate with parents regarding identified needs, agreed support and evidence of progress.
  • Coordinate with ELL, counselling, pastoral and Inclusion colleagues when students require support across multiple areas.
  • Liaise appropriately with therapists, educational specialists and other external professionals.
  • Share practical inclusive teaching strategies with colleagues and contribute to professional learning.
  • Participate in case reviews, planning meetings and wider school initiatives relating to inclusion and student wellbeing.
  • Maintain high expectations for students with additional learning needs while ensuring provision remains responsive to individual circumstances.
Ideal Profile
  • Recognised teaching qualification such as a B.Ed, PGCE, State Teaching Licence or equivalent.
  • Relevant bachelor 's degree meeting UAE teacher approval requirements.
  • Practical school-based experience supporting students with SEND, SEN or other additional learning needs.
  • SEND, Inclusion or Special Education qualification is highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and personalised learning.
  • Experience planning and delivering targeted educational interventions.
  • Working knowledge of Individual Education Plans or comparable student support frameworks.
  • Ability to interpret assessment and progress information and use it to refine provision.
  • Understanding of strategies for removing academic and participation barriers within mainstream classrooms.
  • Patient and flexible approach combined with consistently high expectations for learners.
  • Strong communication skills for working constructively with students, teachers, families and specialists.
  • Ability to manage sensitive student information with appropriate confidentiality.
  • International school or UAE education experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Commitment to collaborative, student-centred inclusive education.
