Role Context
The Inclusion Teacher will ensure that Students of Determination, SEND learners, and gifted students receive meaningful, appropriately challenging, and equitable learning experiences. The role will translate assessment evidence into practical classroom strategies, targeted interventions, and Individualized Education Plans that improve participation, independence, attainment, and wellbeing. Working across Pre-Prep, Prep, Secondary, and Sixth Form, the Inclusion Teacher will partner with classroom teachers, counselors, school leaders, parents, external specialists, and support staff. The post also contributes to the school 's wider research and innovation agenda by using assistive technology, Universal Design for Learning, data-informed planning, and emerging educational tools to remove barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and support students with special educational needs, disabilities, additional learning needs, and exceptional abilities.
- Develop, implement, review, and update Individualized Education Plans in consultation with teachers, parents, students, and specialists.
- Deliver structured in-class, small-group, and individual interventions based on assessed need.
- Differentiate curriculum content, learning activities, resources, and assessment methods to improve access and progress.
- Support gifted students through appropriate extension, enrichment, acceleration, and personalized learning pathways.
- Work with teachers to embed inclusive strategies within everyday classroom practice.
- Use assessment evidence and progress data to determine intervention priorities and evaluate impact.
- Maintain accurate student profiles, provision maps, intervention records, review notes, and confidential documentation.
- Apply multi-tiered systems of support to address academic, behavioral, communication, sensory, social, and emotional needs.
- Promote Universal Design for Learning principles across curriculum planning and lesson delivery.
- Select and use assistive technologies that improve communication, accessibility, organization, independence, and engagement.
- Liaise with counselors, therapists, educational psychologists, medical professionals, and other external specialists.
- Lead or contribute to review meetings, case conferences, parent consultations, and transition planning.
- Guide teaching assistants and learning support staff in delivering appropriate student support.
- Provide practical coaching and professional development to teachers on inclusion, differentiation, and intervention strategies.
- Monitor the quality and consistency of inclusive provision across different phases of the school.
- Ensure practice reflects KHDA inclusion expectations, UAE education policy, British curriculum requirements, and international guidance.
- Support smooth transitions between year groups, school phases, external providers, and post-school destinations.
- Contribute to school improvement planning, inclusion audits, policy development, and quality assurance.
- Participate actively in extracurricular activities, enrichment programmes, and community events.
- Maintain a safeguarding-first approach and follow all child protection, student welfare, health, and safety procedures.
Ideal Profile
- UK-approved qualification in inclusion or special educational needs relevant to children and young people.
- Master 's degree in Special Educational Needs, Inclusion, or a closely related discipline is preferred.
- Relevant PGCE or another recognized teaching qualification.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Inclusion leader or senior inclusion practitioner.
- International school experience within a high-performing educational environment.
- Experience working across a through-school setting covering ages 3-18 is preferred.
- Demonstrated success in improving inclusion systems, interventions, student access, and educational outcomes.
- Current knowledge of inclusion policy and effective practice in the UAE, United Kingdom, and international education.
- Familiarity with KHDA Inclusion guidelines and UAE education requirements is strongly preferred.
- Practical experience managing Individualized Education Plans, provision mapping, student reviews, and targeted interventions.
- Sound understanding of multi-tiered systems of support and graduated response models.
- Experience supporting both Students of Determination and gifted learners.
- Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning and evidence-based intervention frameworks.
- Confidence using assistive technology and digital accessibility tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use student data to evaluate provision and guide decisions.
- Excellent communication skills for working with families, teachers, leadership teams, specialists, and external agencies.
