Job summary

The ID Technical Manager - Special Projects will bridge interior design vision with practical construction execution across complex and high-profile developments. Working with designers, BIM specialists, architects, engineers, joinery teams, fit-out specialists, consultants, contractors, and project leadership, the position will ensure that technical solutions preserve design intent while meeting requirements for constructability, budget, programme, quality, compliance, and long-term operational performance. The role carries responsibility from design development through IFC documentation, site execution, mock-ups, material approvals, snagging, and construction completion. Strong technical leadership will be essential for resolving multidisciplinary interfaces, improving documentation quality, controlling design risk, and maintaining consistent standards across special projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical coordination and management of interior design projects from design development through construction completion.
• Direct designers, BIM specialists, draftsmen, and technical staff to ensure coordinated and timely project delivery.
• Translate approved interior design concepts into technically feasible and construction-ready solutions.
• Ensure construction methodologies, detailing, material selections, and value engineering proposals remain consistent with approved design intent.
• Oversee preparation and review of technical drawings, specifications, schedules, details, material information, and FF&E documentation.
• Review General Arrangement drawings, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and construction packages for accuracy and constructability.
• Coordinate bespoke joinery, millwork, finishes, FF&E, specialist installations, and interior architectural components.
• Review design documents, technical submissions, material selections, samples, and mock-ups before approval.
• Evaluate shop drawings and confirm alignment with specifications, approved design intent, quality standards, and site requirements.
• Conduct technical feasibility studies and assess designs against programme, budget, materials, construction methodology, and operational considerations.
• Resolve complex technical issues during design development and construction without compromising design quality.
• Coordinate architecture, structure, MEP, lighting, AV, kitchen, landscape, signage, and specialist consultant interfaces.
• Lead technical coordination meetings and ensure clashes, conflicts, and outstanding design issues are closed efficiently.
• Maintain technical quality across material selection, detailing, documentation, consultant coordination, and site implementation.
• Work closely with joinery and fit-out teams to develop practical detailing and construction solutions.
• Conduct regular site visits to inspect workmanship, mock-ups, material installations, and technical execution.
• Monitor construction activities to confirm approved design intent is maintained throughout delivery.
• Review Design Development and IFC packages before formal issue.
• Implement QA/QC checks for technical drawings, specifications, schedules, and construction documentation.
• Identify design, construction, cost, quality, coordination, and programme risks at an early stage.
• Develop mitigation measures and elevate significant risks to project leadership when required.
• Support value engineering exercises while protecting design quality, functionality, and project objectives.
• Integrate sustainable design requirements and green building principles where applicable.
• Monitor emerging interior materials, construction technologies, BIM workflows, digital tools, and AI-assisted design applications.
• Support Leadership Office requirements and contribute to the wider technical and design objectives of the organization.
• Maintain delivery performance under demanding schedules and ensure technical packages meet agreed deadlines.
• Follow established QA/QC procedures across all assigned design and technical scopes.
• Maintain strong digital design and documentation standards across Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe applications, Bluebeam Revu, and related platforms.

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor 's Degree in Design, Interior Design, Architecture, or a closely related discipline. Minimum 12-15 years of professional interior design and technical delivery experience across UAE or international projects. Strong portfolio exposure to residential interiors, hospitality, F&B, retail, public spaces, commercial developments, interior fit-out, and mixed-use projects. Substantial experience managing technical interior design documentation from design development through IFC and construction stages. Advanced understanding of bespoke joinery, millwork, FF&E integration, interior finishes, material applications, construction detailing, and fit-out execution. Proven ability to coordinate architecture, MEP, structural, lighting, AV, kitchen, landscape, signage, and specialist design interfaces. Strong knowledge of BIM workflows, ISO 19650, PAS 1192, LOD requirements, model coordination, and digital delivery standards. Experience reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, samples, mock-ups, technical submissions, and construction documentation. Excellent understanding of UAE construction practices, applicable codes, standards, regulations, and high-quality interior fit-out requirements. Strong leadership capability with the ability to guide multidisciplinary technical teams and make sound decisions under demanding project conditions.
