Job summary

Tanqeeb is seeking an experienced HVAC Design Engineer to design and develop HVAC systems for interior fit-out projects in the UAE. You will perform cooling and heat load calculations, equipment selection, duct and pipe sizing, and prepare detailed shop drawings and technical submissions.

Ideal candidates have 4–8 years of HVAC design experience, preferably within UAE interior fit-out contexts, with strong AutoCAD skills and knowledge of Revit MEP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4-8 years of HVAC design experience, UAE preferred.
• UAE Interior Fit-Out experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in commercial/retail/F&B/hospitality/interior fit-out projects.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC design, cooling/heat load calculations, duct design, chilled water systems.
• Experience in shop drawings, technical submissions, material submittals, calculations, and approvals.

Job description

1. Design and develop HVAC systems for Interior Fit-Out projects in accordance with project requirements, specifications, and applicable standards.

2. Perform HVAC cooling load calculations, heat load calculations, equipment selection, duct sizing, pipe sizing, and ventilation calculations.

3. Prepare detailed HVAC design layouts, schematics, design drawings, and technical details.

4. Design HVAC systems including FCUs, AHUs, ducting, chilled water piping, fresh air, exhaust, and ventilation systems.

5. Review architectural, interior design, MEP drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project requirements to develop practical HVAC solutions.

6. Coordinate HVAC design with Interior Design, Architecture, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, and other MEP disciplines.

7. Identify design clashes, coordination issues, and constructability concerns and provide suitable technical solutions.

8. Prepare and review HVAC shop drawings, technical submissions, material submittals, calculations, and method statements.

9. Coordinate with consultants, clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal project teams to obtain technical approvals.

10. Review consultant/client comments and ensure timely incorporation of required design revisions.

11. Provide technical support to Project Engineers and Site Teams during HVAC installation and resolve design-related site issues.

12. Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions, dimensions, service routes, and installation requirements.

13. Review HVAC installation against approved designs and ensure proper implementation of design intent.

14. Assist with HVAC testing, commissioning, testing & balancing, and final handover.

15. Prepare and review HVAC as-built drawings and final technical documentation.

16. Evaluate alternative HVAC solutions and support value engineering and cost optimization where applicable.

17. Ensure HVAC designs comply with project specifications, consultant requirements, manufacturer recommendations, and relevant UAE standards and authority requirements.

Desired Candidate Profile

1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

2. Minimum 4-8 years of experience in HVAC Design, preferably within the UAE.

3. UAE Interior Fit-Out experience will be strongly preferred.

4. Candidates with hands-on experience in commercial, retail, F&B, hospitality, office, or other Interior Fit-Out projects will have a significant advantage.

5. Strong practical knowledge of HVAC design, cooling/heat load calculations, duct design, chilled water systems, ventilation, fresh air, and exhaust systems.

6. Hands-on experience in equipment selection, duct sizing, pipe sizing, pressure drop calculations, and HVAC system design.

7. Strong understanding of multidisciplinary MEP coordination within interior spaces.

8. Experience preparing HVAC shop drawings, technical submissions, material submittals, calculations, and consultant approval documents.

9. Proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory.

10. Knowledge of Revit MEP and other HVAC design/calculation software is an added advantage.

11. Good understanding of UAE HVAC practices, consultant requirements, and relevant authority standards.

12. Ability to coordinate effectively with consultants, clients, Project Managers, Site Engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors.

13. Strong technical knowledge with good analytical and problem-solving abilities.

14. Good communication, coordination, and documentation skills.

15. Ability to manage multiple design requirements and meet project deadlines.

16. UAE Driving License is an added advantage.
