Job summary

SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences in Downtown Dubai is seeking a Guest Host/Hostess to welcome guests to the restaurant and bar, maintaining a friendly and diplomatic demeanor at all times. You will document reservations, prepare seating allocations, and ensure guests are shown to tables promptly, while following door policies and liquor guidelines in a luxury, fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate is client-focused, detail-oriented, and able to multitask with professionalism in English.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing role in upscale restaurant or lounge.
• Experience documenting reservations and using POS systems.
• Strong attention to detail and courteous service.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a friendly and diplomatic relationship with all prospective guests entering the restaurant or bar.
• Ensure reservation information is documented with time, date, covers, name, and contact.
• Prepare table allocations from the reservation book before each seating period.
• Escort guests to tables promptly after their reservation.
• Adhere to hotel door policies and liquor licensing age guidelines.
• Ensure host/hostess coverage at the reception desk at all times.
• Answer the phone within 2 rings in a courteous and helpful manner.
• Ensure door entry policies are followed at all times.
• Ensure seating is fair for all service staff.
• Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Description

• Maintain a friendly and diplomatic relationship/manner with all prospective guests who wish to enter the restaurant or bar at all times
• Ensure all reservation information is properly documented including time, date, number of covers, name/room number and contact number
• Prepare table allocations from reservation book before respective meal period seating
• Ensure guests are graciously shown to their tables within a reasonable time of their reservation
• Adhere to hotel door policies and restrictions, including local and federal age guidelines aligned with liquor licensing
• Guarantee there is host/hostess coverage at the reception/welcome desk at all times
• Guarantee that the phone is answered within 2 rings in a courteous and helpful manner
• Ensure door policies concerning the entry of guests and these are adhered to at all times
• Ensure that seating is fair for all service staff
• Perform related duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• One to two years in a public contact position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand restaurant or lounge
• Enter and locate work related information using computers and/or point of sale systems
• Possess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor
• Ability to multitask, work in a fast paced environment and have a high level attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments
• Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork
