Job summary

Nathan & Nathan in Dubai, Business Bay, seeks a Freight Finance Specialist to manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow for freight operations. You will handle invoicing, reconciliations, and monthly closings to ensure accurate financial records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience across AP/AR.
• Experience in shipping, freight, logistics, commodity trading, FMCG or warehousing advantageous.
• Hands‑on experience with accounting/ERP systems.
• Excel proficiency; Power BI and Dynamics 365 BC advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of reconciliations, ageing, accruals and month‑end closing.

Responsibilities

• Verify and process supplier invoices with PO/contract/Goods Received matching.
• Coordinate invoice approvals and arrange supplier payments per terms.
• Maintain supplier accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare and issue customer invoices and receipts; monitor overdue balances.
• Perform reconciliations of bank, AP, AR and balance sheet accounts.

Freight Finance Specialist

Location: Dubai, Business Bay

Salary: Up to AED 10,000

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Supplier Management

• Verify and process supplier invoices, ensuring appropriate matching against purchase orders, contracts, goods/services received and agreed commercial terms.
• Coordinate invoice approvals and arrange supplier payments in accordance with agreed payment terms and internal approval procedures.
• Maintain accurate supplier account records and resolve invoice, pricing and documentation discrepancies.
• Monitor freight-related costs and ensure that supporting documentation is complete and properly maintained.

Accounts Receivable & Customer Billing

• Prepare and issue customer invoices, debit/credit notes and account statements in accordance with agreed contractual and commercial terms.
• Record customer receipts and allocate payments accurately to outstanding invoices.
• Monitor customer balances and follow up on overdue receivables in coordination with the commercial and operations teams.
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and customer account queries.

Reconciliations & Cash Management

• Perform regular reconciliations of supplier and customer accounts, bank accounts and other relevant balance sheet accounts.
• Investigate outstanding or unreconciled items and ensure timely resolution and clearance.
• Maintain accurate ageing reports for both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Provide regular updates on upcoming payments, overdue receivables and expected collections to support cash-flow planning.

Month-End Closing & Reporting

• Support the month-end closing process, including accruals, provisions, prepayments and other relevant accounting entries.
• Ensure freight and operating costs are recorded in the appropriate accounting period.
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for management reporting, internal controls and external/internal audits.
• Maintain complete, accurate and properly organized financial records in accordance with company policies and accounting requirements.

Controls & Process Improvement

• Ensure compliance with established finance policies, approval processes and segregation-of-duties requirements.
• Identify discrepancies, control weaknesses and process inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
• Work closely with Finance, Operations, Commercial and Procurement teams to ensure accurate and timely financial processing.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience, with hands‑on responsibility across both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Previous experience in shipping, freight, logistics, commodity trading, FMCG or warehousing will be an advantage.
• Hands‑on experience with accounting or ERP systems.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency is required; experience with Power BI is a strong advantage.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a strong advantage.
• Sound knowledge of account reconciliations, ageing analysis, accruals and month-end closing processes.
