Job summary

GMS Inc. in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to manage supplier invoices, verify payments, and maintain accurate vendor records in a fast-paced maritime business.

The role covers month-end close assistance, VAT and UAE corporate tax support, reconciliation of statements, and collaboration with internal teams to resolve purchasing issues. A Bachelor’s in accounting and 3–5 years of AP experience are required, with Danaos and ERP familiarity highly

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of accounts payable or related accounting experience.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Danaos experience is a plus; proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable transactions accurately and on time.
  • Match PO, receiving documents, and invoices for payment authorization.
  • Review and verify invoices and expense reports for accuracy.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare, process and review payments.
  • Maintain vendor master data and ensure records are up to date.
  • Assist with month-end close related to accounts payable.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve purchasing issues.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and process improvements.
  • Submit management reports promptly.
  • Participate in financial statement preparation.
  • Assist in the Group's annual external audit and statutory requirements.

  • Experience in ERP systems
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Danaos experience will be regarded as a plus) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
