Job summary

Duncan & Ross in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Field Piping Engineer to support on-site execution and coordination of piping activities. You will work with design teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure installations meet IFC drawings and standards while maintaining safety and quality during construction.

The role requires 5–10 years in oil, gas, refinery or petrochemical piping, strong knowledge of welding, isometrics, P&IDs, and ASME B31.3.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or piping engineering is required.
• 5–10 years of field piping engineer experience in oil & gas refinery or petrochemical.
• Strong knowledge of piping construction, welding tests, isometrics and layout interpretation.
• Familiarity with ASME B31.3, B31.1, API and international standards.
• Excellent communication and field coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as site technical authority for field piping issues to IFC drawings and specs.
• Review piping design documents including isometrics, P&IDs and isometrics.
• Supervise installation of piping systems, supports, valves and inline components.
• Coordinate resolution of TQs, site modifications and field design changes.
• Interface with engineering, procurement and construction teams for materials/drawings at site.
• Support MTO verification, pipe fit-up, welding, NDT and pressure testing.
• Oversee compliance with ASME, API, ANSI and other piping codes and standards.
• Assist QA/QC with inspection, hydrotesting and walk-downs.
• Track installation progress, punch list clearance and handover to commissioning.
• Review and approve red-line markups and as-built documentation.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Field Piping Engineer to support the execution and coordination of all piping activities on-site. The role involves close collaboration with the design team construction contractors and project stakeholders to ensure the piping systems are installed according to specifications drawings and standards. The engineer will provide technical support in the field resolve interface issues and ensure safety and quality compliance throughout the construction phase.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as the site technical authority for all field piping-related issues ensuring work is carried out in accordance with Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and project specifications.
• Review piping design documents including isometrics P&IDs general arrangement drawings support drawings and material specifications.
• Supervise and monitor the installation of:
  • Process and utility piping systems
  • Aboveground and underground piping
  • High-pressure and critical service lines
  • Pipe supports valves and inline components
• Coordinate resolution of technical queries (TQs) site modifications and field design changes.
• Interface with engineering procurement and construction teams to ensure correct materials and drawings are available at site.
• Support material take-off (MTO) verification pipe fit-up welding NDT and pressure testing.
• Oversee compliance with ASME API ANSI and other relevant piping codes and standards.
• Assist QA/QC with inspection activities hydrotesting and walk-downs.
• Track installation progress and support system completion punch list clearance and handover to commissioning.
• Review and approve red-line markups and ensure as-built documentation is accurately updated.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Piping Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5-10 years of experience as a Field Piping Engineer in the Oil & Gas Refinery or Petrochemical sector.
• Strong understanding of:
  • Piping construction and erection practices
  • Pipe welding (SMAW GTAW etc.) and associated testing procedures
  • Piping layout and isometric interpretation
• Familiarity with ASME B31.3 ASME B31.1 API ANSI and applicable international standards.
• Experience with piping supports pipe stress considerations and expansion loops is a plus.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Navisworks and MS Office tools.
• Strong communication coordination and problem-solving skills.
