Qualifications

• 15 years of proven piping engineering and construction experience in Oil & Gas or related EPC contexts.

• Extensive experience in piping fabrication, erection, testing and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and design across piping systems, ensuring compliance with project specs.
• Review and approve P&IDs, isometrics, GA drawings, PMS and LDTs.
• Coordinate material forecasting, procurement, fabrication and field installation.
• Drive safety, quality, and productivity in line with ITP/QCP requirements.
• Interface with clients, vendors and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.
• Oversee commissioning, pre-commissioning and handover activities.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Piping Engineer to join our growing EPC project team. This position will play a critical role in leading the engineering, planning, execution, quality assurance, and commissioning support of piping systems across major Oil & Gas and Industrial projects.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring all piping activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, international codes, and industry best practices. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated professional with extensive EPC experience and a proven track record of managing multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and client interfaces.

YOUR ROLE

As Lead Piping Engineer, you will be responsible in the performance of the following but not limited to duties and responsibilities;

Engineering & Design Leadership

• Review and verify P&IDs, isometric drawings, GA drawings, tie-in lists, material specifications, and engineering deliverables.
• Approve piping layouts, routing studies, stress analysis reports, and piping support designs.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards including ASME, API, ASTM, and ANSI requirements.
• Provide technical support and engineering clarifications for site queries, RFIs, and design modifications.
• Support the development of construction procedures, method statements, and work instructions.
• Validate Pipe Material Specifications (PMS) and Line Designation Tables (LDT).

Planning & Project Execution

• Develop and review piping execution strategies and project schedules.
• Coordinate material forecasting and procurement activities.
• Ensure fabrication and installation work fronts are effectively planned and optimized.
• Monitor project progress and support reporting activities.

Construction Management

• Lead piping fabrication, erection, welding, assembly, hydrotesting, reinstatement, and mechanical completion activities.
• Resolve technical and construction-related issues in collaboration with Engineering and QA/QC teams.
• Ensure adherence to safety, quality, productivity, and project schedule requirements.
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, and daily work activities with supervisors and subcontractors.
• Verify proper installation of piping systems, valves, supports, specialty items, and tie-ins.
• Oversee spool fabrication and field fit-up activities.

Material & Subcontractor Management

• Review and approve Material Requisitions (MR), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), and vendor documentation.
• Ensure timely availability of piping materials, welding consumables, and specialty equipment.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, compliance, and scope execution.
• Track fabrication progress, NDT activities, and spool deliveries to site.

Quality Assurance & Control

• Ensure compliance with Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), Quality Control Procedures (QCP), and project quality requirements.
• Support inspection activities, welding surveillance, and NDT coordination.
• Participate in root cause investigations, NCR resolutions, and corrective action implementation.
• Ensure accurate maintenance of weld maps, test packs, turnover dossiers, and quality records.
• Prepare and manage hydrostatic and pneumatic test packages.
• Support flushing, blowing, hydrotesting, reinstatement, and system handover activities.
• Coordinate punch-list closure, walk-downs, mechanical completion, and pre-commissioning documentation.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Lead coordination efforts across Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation disciplines.
• Interface with clients, consultants, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Facilitate progress review meetings and resolve multidisciplinary interface issues.
• Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and critical actions.
• Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements, permit-to-work systems, and safe work practices.
• Participate in risk assessments, JSA/JHA workshops, and safety reviews.
• Promote a strong safety culture in all piping fabrication, installation, and testing activities.

WHAT WE'R LOOKING FOR

Experience

• 15 years of proven experience in piping engineering and construction within: Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Power Generation, EPC/EPCM Projects
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
• Extensive experience in piping fabrication, erection, testing, and commissioning activities.

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory)
• Master's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (Preferred)
