Job summary

WSP in Abu Dhabi is seeking an ITS Engineer to join a major ITS construction supervision project. The successful candidate will oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of ITS systems across a large transport network.

The role involves monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved designs, and safety requirements, with close coordination with contractors and client representatives throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in ITS engineering and construction supervision.
• Experience supervising ITS installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Demonstrated experience working on ITS construction projects within the UAE.
• Familiarity with Abu Dhabi transport authority requirements and project delivery processes.
• Strong technical reporting and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of ITS systems on-site.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, method statements, testing procedures, and commissioning plans.
• Inspect and verify installation works for ITS infrastructure and equipment.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary supervision teams including civil, electrical, telecom, traffic, and systems engineers.
• Identify construction issues and provide technical recommendations to support timely project delivery.
• Prepare site inspection reports, NCRs, snagging reports, and progress updates.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality management requirements.

We are seeking a highly motivated ITS Engineer to join our Abu Dhabi team and support the delivery of a major ITS construction supervision project. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of various Intelligent Transportation Systems deployed across a major transportation network.

The ITS Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and supervising ITS construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved designs, quality standards, safety requirements, and authority regulations. The role will involve close coordination with contractors, stakeholders, and client representatives throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of ITS systems on-site.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, project requirements, and relevant standards.
• Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, method statements, testing procedures, and commissioning plans related to ITS systems.
• Inspect and verify installation works for ITS infrastructure and equipment.
• Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), integrated testing, and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary supervision teams including civil, electrical, telecom, traffic, and systems engineers.
• Identify construction issues and provide technical recommendations to support timely project delivery.
• Review and verify contractor progress against approved schedules.
• Prepare site inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), snagging reports, and progress updates.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality management requirements.
• Coordinate with Abu Dhabi stakeholders and authorities regarding approvals, inspections, and project handover requirements.
• Support project closeout activities, including preparation of as‑built documentation and final acceptance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in ITS engineering and construction supervision.

Demonstrated experience working on ITS construction projects within the UAE.

Experience supervising ITS installation, testing, and commissioning activities.

Good understanding of ITS standards, traffic management systems, communications networks, and systems integration.

Familiarity with Abu Dhabi transport authority requirements and project delivery processes.

Strong technical reporting and coordination skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation systems.

Preferable if candidates have ITC (Integrated Transport Centre) approval.

Preferable if candidates also have design experience.
