Role Overview
Resident Engineer - Infrastructure in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates is a Civil Engineering opportunity for a senior site leadership professional who can manage supervision, contract administration, coordination, technical compliance, and delivery control across major roads and infrastructure works. This role is ideal for an experienced Resident Engineer with a strong background in wet and dry utilities, UAE infrastructure projects, authority coordination, FIDIC-based contract administration, EOT evaluation, variation assessment, and multidisciplinary construction supervision. The salary range is 35,000–52,000 AED.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site supervision for roads, infrastructure, wet utilities, dry utilities, and related civil works.
- Administer and coordinate construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, approved drawings, specifications, authority requirements, and applicable standards.
- Provide technical leadership to site supervision teams, inspectors, engineers, surveyors, and discipline specialists.
- Manage contractor performance and ensure works are delivered according to approved methods, quality requirements, safety procedures, and project timelines.
- Review and direct responses to technical submissions, site queries, shop drawings, method statements, inspection records, and construction documentation.
- Coordinate with the Employer, contractors, consultants, authorities, utility providers, and project stakeholders to resolve technical and contractual matters.
- Monitor progress against approved schedules and take action where delay, underperformance, or site constraint risks are identified.
- Support review of progress reports, site records, correspondence, meeting minutes, and construction status updates.
- Safeguard the Employer's contractual, technical, financial, and time-related interests during project execution.
- Administer contract requirements in line with applicable conditions of contract, including FIDIC Red Book principles where relevant.
- Review, assess, and provide recommendations on Extension of Time claims, delay events, variations, and contractor entitlement submissions.
- Evaluate variation proposals, change records, cost impacts, and supporting documentation with clear contractual reasoning.
- Draft and review contractual correspondence, formal notices, technical letters, and project communications.
- Ensure accurate site records are maintained to support contract administration, claims review, progress validation, and project close-out.
- Lead coordination meetings, technical meetings, progress reviews, and site discussions with contractors and project stakeholders.
- Ensure authority coordination is properly managed for roads, utilities, infrastructure interfaces, approvals, inspections, and handover requirements.
- Monitor quality standards and ensure construction works are completed with proper workmanship and technical compliance.
- Promote safe work practices and confirm that project HSE requirements are followed across site operations.
- Provide clear direction to resolve construction issues, interface conflicts, authority comments, and site coordination challenges.
- Support final handover by ensuring required documentation, approvals, records, inspections, and clearances are completed.
- Manage team performance, assign site responsibilities, and maintain professional discipline across the supervision team.
- Perform other senior site supervision and contract management duties required by project leadership.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in roads and infrastructure projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Resident Engineer role or senior site supervision role on major infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in UAE infrastructure projects and authority coordination.
- Strong knowledge of roads, wet utilities, dry utilities, civil infrastructure works, site supervision, and construction delivery.
- Working knowledge of FIDIC, preferably Red Book, or applicable conditions of contract followed in Abu Dhabi Emirate.
- Demonstrated experience in contract administration, Extension of Time evaluation, variation assessment, and contractor correspondence.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to direct multidisciplinary site teams.
- Excellent report writing and contractual correspondence drafting ability.
- Fluent in English and Arabic.
- Strong technical judgment with the ability to protect project quality, time, cost, and contractual interests.
- Confident communicator able to coordinate with clients, contractors, authorities, consultants, and internal project leadership.
- Organized, decisive, and capable of managing complex site issues under demanding project conditions.
