Job summary

NMDC is seeking an experienced deckhand to support daily deck operations on dredging, reclamation, and marine construction projects aboard multicat and support vessels. The role involves anchoring, towing, mooring, barge handling, and assisting in pipeline connections, with emphasis on safety and risk mitigation.

Candidates should have a Technical School Certificate or equivalent and at least 6 years of relevant experience in marine environments.

Responsibilities

• Support daily deck operations onboard multicat and support vessels to ensure safe and efficient execution of dredging, reclamation, and marine construction activities.
• Execute anchoring, mooring, towing, and barge handling operations in coordination with vessel command and operational teams.
• Assist in installation, connection, and disconnection of floating pipelines, sinker lines, riser pipes, and shore connections.
• Monitor floating pipelines and deck equipment conditions and report defects or risks promptly.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized deck areas in compliance with safety standards.
• Guide junior crew members in deck operations and ensure safe work practices.

Job description

• Support daily deck operations onboard multicat and support vessels to ensure safe and efficient execution of dredging, reclamation, and marine construction activities.
• Execute anchoring, mooring, towing, and barge handling operations in coordination with vessel command and operational teams.
• Assist in installation, connection, and disconnection of floating pipelines, sinker lines, riser pipes, and shore connections in accordance with operational procedures.
• Handle winch operations and assist in pipeline tensioning, slack management, and positioning of floating and submerged pipeline systems.
• Support dredging operations by assisting in CSD shifting, TSHD discharge operations, and related marine support activities.
• Monitor floating pipelines and deck equipment conditions, reporting defects, misalignment, or operational risks promptly to supervisors.
• Assist in safe handling of lifting gear, pelican hooks, pontoons, and associated marine equipment during operational activities.
• Ensure all deck operations are executed in compliance with job safety analysis, risk assessments, and company HSE procedures.
• Maintain awareness of operational procedures for dredging systems, including discharge methods and pipeline connection systems.
• Support efficient utilization of equipment, tools, and materials while preventing misuse or damage during operations.
• Provide accurate feedback to the Skipper or Captain regarding operational progress, equipment status, incidents, and delays.
• Assist in maintaining safe, clean, and organized deck working environments in compliance with marine safety standards.
• Support and guide junior crew members in deck operations and ensure safe work practices are followed.
• Report unsafe conditions, incidents, equipment failures, and operational hazards in accordance with company procedures.
• Ensure all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project requirements and operational priorities.
• Support operational continuity by undertaking additional deck and marine support duties as required
• Cooperate constructively and efficiently with rest of the crew
