Allocation Assist Middle East seeks a Consultant Pediatric Craniofacial Surgeon to lead complex reconstructive care for children with skull and facial abnormalities in Abu Dhabi. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to plan staged interventions, manage growth-related changes, and optimise functional and aesthetic outcomes.

Requires MBBS or equivalent, board/fellowship in Plastic/Craniofacial Surgery, DOH Abu Dhabi license or eligibility, and 5–7 years post-board experience in pediatric

Job description

Role Context

The Consultant Pediatric Craniofacial Surgeon will manage children with complex abnormalities involving the skull, face, jaws, and related structures. Clinical responsibilities will span diagnosis, surgical decision-making, staged reconstruction, postoperative monitoring, and long-term follow-up as the child grows and develops. Successful treatment often requires coordinated planning across several specialties. The consultant will work closely with neurosurgeons, plastic surgeons, ENT specialists, orthodontists, speech therapists, pediatricians, radiologists, anesthesiology teams, and other professionals to create integrated care pathways tailored to each child 's functional, developmental, and reconstructive needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose congenital and acquired craniofacial abnormalities affecting pediatric patients.
• Evaluate children with craniosynostosis and develop appropriate surgical correction strategies based on anatomy, growth, neurological considerations, and clinical presentation.
• Perform complex craniofacial reconstruction for congenital skull and facial abnormalities.
• Manage cleft-related craniofacial deformities requiring advanced surgical correction or staged reconstruction.
• Assess and treat significant facial asymmetry using individualized reconstructive approaches.
• Perform craniofacial trauma reconstruction following injuries affecting the skull, orbit, facial bones, and surrounding soft tissues.
• Participate in advanced reconstructive procedures where multiple craniofacial structures require coordinated correction.
• Provide specialist inpatient reviews for children undergoing complex craniofacial surgery or postoperative management.
• Conduct outpatient consultations for new referrals, surgical planning, postoperative reviews, and long-term surveillance.
• Develop staged treatment pathways that account for craniofacial growth, development, function, appearance, and future surgical requirements.
• Participate actively in multidisciplinary craniofacial clinics and complex surgical planning meetings.
• Coordinate treatment with neurosurgery when cranial reconstruction involves neurological or intracranial considerations.
• Work with ENT, orthodontics, speech therapy, and other services where airway, dental, speech, feeding, or facial development issues require combined management.
• Explain diagnoses, surgical options, expected outcomes, potential risks, recovery requirements, and future treatment stages to parents and caregivers.
• Monitor postoperative healing, neurological status, facial symmetry, functional recovery, and reconstructive outcomes.
• Maintain accurate consultation records, operative notes, consent documentation, imaging reviews, and long-term treatment plans.
• Follow DOH Abu Dhabi regulations, hospital policies, infection control procedures, and accepted surgical safety standards.
• Participate in clinical audits, research projects, teaching activities, conferences, and continuing medical education programs.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives focused on pediatric craniofacial outcomes, surgical safety, and multidisciplinary care.

Ideal Profile

The successful candidate will hold an MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi together with Board Certification or Fellowship training in Plastic Surgery, Craniofacial Surgery, Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery, or another relevant recognized pathway. A valid DOH Consultant License or appropriate Eligibility Letter in the relevant specialty is required. Applicants should bring at least 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in pediatric craniofacial surgery gained within a tertiary care, specialist children 's, or academic hospital. Strong experience in craniosynostosis correction, cleft-related craniofacial reconstruction, facial asymmetry, congenital skull and facial abnormalities, and trauma reconstruction is expected. Exposure to pediatric skull base procedures and advanced craniofacial reconstruction will be particularly valuable. Academic involvement, published research, teaching experience, and participation in established cleft or craniofacial multidisciplinary programs will further strengthen suitability for this position.
