Gender: Any Candidate Nationality: Any Job Type: Full-time Role Context This consultant appointment provides specialist surgical care for children with congenital anomalies, traumatic injuries, burns, scars, soft tissue defects, hand conditions, and craniofacial abnormalities. The surgeon will assess each child 's medical needs, developmental stage, functional limitations, and aesthetic concerns before recommending individualized operative or non-operative treatment. The role combines inpatient and outpatient care, complex reconstruction, trauma management, long-term follow-up, and postoperative rehabilitation. Close collaboration with craniofacial surgeons, neurosurgeons, ENT specialists, orthopaedic surgeons, dermatologists, rehabilitation professionals, and nursing teams will support safe procedures and coordinated recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and manage congenital, traumatic, and acquired pediatric plastic surgery conditions.
  • Assess infants, children, and adolescents requiring reconstructive or cosmetic surgical treatment.
  • Perform cleft lip and palate repair within approved clinical privileges.
  • Undertake craniofacial reconstruction for suitable congenital and acquired conditions.
  • Perform pediatric hand surgery for congenital deformities, trauma, and functional impairment.
  • Manage burn injuries and perform reconstructive procedures to improve movement, appearance, and quality of life.
  • Conduct scar revision and soft tissue reconstruction.
  • Evaluate and manage complex pediatric trauma requiring plastic or reconstructive surgery.
  • Perform microsurgical procedures where appropriately trained and credentialed.
  • Develop individualized surgical plans based on diagnosis, age, growth, function, and expected outcomes.
  • Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments and identify surgical or anesthetic risks.
  • Explain treatment options, operative techniques, expected outcomes, limitations, risks, and recovery needs.
  • Provide inpatient consultations and oversee postoperative management.
  • Lead outpatient clinics for assessment, surgical planning, wound review, and long-term follow-up.
  • Monitor healing, scar development, function, growth, and aesthetic outcomes.
  • Develop postoperative rehabilitation plans with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists.
  • Collaborate with craniofacial surgeons, neurosurgeons, ENT physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, dermatologists, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in cleft, craniofacial, trauma, burn, and complex reconstruction meetings.
  • Counsel children and families with sensitivity and realistic expectations.
  • Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative reports, consent records, photographs where authorized, and follow-up documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety requirements, infection control standards, and Dubai healthcare regulations.
  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement projects, research, teaching, and continuing medical education.
  • Remain current with advances in pediatric plastic surgery, microsurgery, craniofacial reconstruction, burn care, and tissue repair.
Ideal Profile

Applicants must hold an MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution and possess board certification or fellowship training in Plastic Surgery. Recognized subspecialty experience or advanced training in Pediatric Plastic Surgery is required. Candidates should have at least five to seven years of post-board consultant experience in pediatric plastic and reconstructive surgery within a tertiary-care or academic hospital. Strong expertise in cleft lip and palate repair, craniofacial surgery, pediatric hand surgery, burn reconstruction, scar revision, soft tissue reconstruction, and complex trauma is essential. Eligibility for a Dubai Health Authority Consultant licence is required. Experience in pediatric microsurgery, advanced reconstructive techniques, or established cleft and craniofacial programs would strengthen an application. The successful surgeon will demonstrate excellent operative judgment, compassionate family communication, attention to functional and aesthetic outcomes, and effective multidisciplinary teamwork. Academic involvement, research publications, and teaching experience would be advantageous.
