Consultant – Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery

Overview

The Consultant – Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery in Dubai is a senior physician role responsible for specialist surgical assessment, operative care, and long‑term reconstructive planning for children with craniofacial deformities including craniosynostosis, cleft‑related conditions, facial asymmetry, and craniofacial trauma.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and manage congenital and acquired craniofacial conditions in infants, children, and adolescents.
  • Perform complex craniofacial surgical procedures, including correction of craniosynostosis, cleft‑related deformities, facial asymmetry, craniofacial trauma reconstruction, and congenital skull and facial abnormalities.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations for pediatric craniofacial surgery patients.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, surgical pathways, postoperative care plans, and long‑term reconstructive strategies.
  • Participate in craniofacial multidisciplinary clinics, surgical planning meetings, complex case reviews, and coordinated care discussions.
  • Collaborate closely with neurosurgeons, plastic surgeons, ENT specialists, orthodontists, speech therapists, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, radiologists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, surgical options, procedure risks, expected recovery, postoperative care, and long‑term functional and aesthetic outcomes.
  • Support cleft and craniofacial care pathways through structured follow‑up, rehabilitation planning, and multidisciplinary treatment coordination.
  • Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative reports, consent documentation, treatment plans, reconstructive care records, and follow‑up reports.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, hospital policies, surgical safety standards, infection control requirements, and patient safety protocols.
  • Participate in clinical audits, morbidity reviews, research, teaching, continuing medical education, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to pediatric craniofacial service development through evidence‑based practice, protocol improvement, academic activity, and surgical outcome review.
Qualifications / Ideal Profile
  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by UAE healthcare authorities.
  • Board certification, fellowship, or recognized specialist qualification in Plastic Surgery, Craniofacial Surgery, or Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery.
  • Valid UAE Consultant License or eligibility in the relevant specialty.
  • Minimum 5‑7 years of post‑board consultant experience in pediatric craniofacial surgery within a tertiary care or academic hospital.
  • Strong expertise in pediatric craniofacial reconstructive and corrective surgical procedures.
  • Proven experience managing craniosynostosis, cleft‑related deformities, facial asymmetry, craniofacial trauma, and congenital skull and facial abnormalities.
  • Experience in cleft and craniofacial multidisciplinary programs is an advantage.
  • Exposure to advanced craniofacial reconstruction and pediatric skull base procedures is preferred.
  • Academic, research, teaching, audit, or publication experience will strengthen the profile.
  • Excellent surgical judgment, communication, documentation, leadership, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment with children, families, and specialist clinical teams.
