Context

The Consultant - Cardiac Transplant will provide expert clinical care for patients with advanced heart failure and heart transplantation needs. Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients with advanced heart failure, end‑stage cardiac disease, and cardiac transplantation needs.
• Conduct pre‑transplant assessments, transplant listing evaluations, risk stratification, suitability reviews, and long‑term care planning.
• Provide peri‑operative and post‑transplant medical management in collaboration with transplant surgery, intensive care, anesthesia, and cardiac specialty teams.
• Manage immunosuppression protocols, medication optimization, therapeutic monitoring, and prevention of transplant‑related complications.
• Lead rejection surveillance, infection prevention strategies, graft function monitoring, and post‑transplant follow‑up care.
• Assess patient suitability for mechanical circulatory support including LVAD, ECMO, and related advanced heart failure technologies.
• Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, transplant coordinators, nurses, pharmacists, rehabilitation teams, and allied healthcare professionals.
• Participate in transplant selection committees, multidisciplinary case reviews, transplant pathway discussions, and complex decision‑making meetings.
• Apply international heart failure and transplant guidelines, including ISHLT and ACC‑AHA standards, in clinical planning and patient management.
• Educate patients and families regarding transplant evaluation, treatment options, medication adherence, infection prevention, lifestyle management, and long‑term follow‑up needs.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, transplant assessment records, medication plans, follow‑up notes, committee decisions, and discharge summaries.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, research activities, academic programs, teaching, and continuing medical education.
• Mentor junior physicians, fellows, residents, and clinical staff within advanced heart failure and transplant medicine services.

Ideal Profile

• MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical qualification from a recognized institution.
• Board certification in Cardiology, Internal Medicine, or an equivalent recognized specialty.
• Subspecialty training in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation.
• Fellowship from a recognized international cardiac transplant center.
• Minimum 3‑5 years of post‑fellowship experience in cardiac transplant medicine.
