Role Overview

Consultant Physician – Cardiac Transplant in Dubai is a senior healthcare opportunity for an experienced physician specializing in advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, transplant assessment, immunosuppression management, and long‑term graft care. The role requires strong clinical judgment, deep knowledge of transplant medicine, and the ability to coordinate care across cardiac surgery, intensive care, anesthesiology, transplant coordination, rehabilitation, and long‑term follow‑up teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients with advanced heart failure, end‑stage cardiac disease, and potential cardiac transplantation requirements.
• Conduct detailed pre‑transplant assessments, transplant listing evaluations, clinical risk reviews, and multidisciplinary case discussions.
• Provide expert post‑transplant follow‑up care, including graft function monitoring, rejection surveillance, infection prevention, and long‑term treatment planning.
• Manage immunosuppression protocols according to patient condition, transplant status, laboratory results, and international clinical standards.
• Assess suitability for mechanical circulatory support, including LVAD, ECMO, and other advanced cardiac support options.
• Work closely with cardiac surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, heart failure cardiologists, transplant coordinators, pharmacists, nurses, and allied healthcare teams.
• Participate in transplant selection committees, clinical governance meetings, patient safety reviews, quality improvement programs, and academic activities.
• Support peri‑operative care planning by coordinating medical input before, during, and after transplant procedures.
• Identify and manage transplant‑related complications such as acute rejection, chronic graft dysfunction, infection, renal impairment, and medication‑related adverse effects.
• Maintain accurate patient records, transplant documentation, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and follow‑up reports.
• Contribute to teaching, mentoring, research activity, protocol development, and continuous improvement within the cardiac transplant service.
• Remain updated with international transplant guidelines, including ISHLT, ACC, and AHA standards for advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation.

Ideal Profile

• MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical qualification from a recognized institution.
• Board certification in Cardiology, Internal Medicine, or an equivalent recognized specialty pathway.
• Subspecialty training in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation.
• Fellowship completed at a recognized international cardiac transplant or advanced heart failure center.
• Minimum 3‑5 years of post‑fellowship experience in cardiac transplant medicine.
• Strong practical experience in pre‑transplant evaluation, transplant listing, peri‑operative coordination, and post‑transplant follow‑up care.
• Proven knowledge of immunosuppression therapy, rejection monitoring, infection prevention, graft surveillance, and transplant complication management.
• Experience with mechanical circulatory support assessment, including LVAD and ECMO.
• Strong understanding of international transplant guidelines and advanced heart failure care standards.
• Excellent communication, clinical decision‑making, documentation, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
