Role Summary: The Consultant Breast and Oncoplastic Surgeon in Dubai will lead a comprehensive breast service focused on advanced breast cancer surgery, oncoplastic reconstruction, benign breast disease management, and multidisciplinary patient care. The senior consultant will employ advanced oncologic surgery with reconstructive and breast‑conserving techniques to achieve safe cancer outcomes while supporting function, appearance, and patient well‑being. The role requires close collaboration with breast radiologists, oncologists, pathologists, plastic surgeons, genetic specialists, breast‑care nurses, and rehabilitation teams. It includes clinical leadership, multidisciplinary decision‑making, teaching, research, governance, and the expansion of breast care services within a high‑performing healthcare system in Dubai.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the comprehensive assessment and management of benign and malignant breast disease.
  • Conduct detailed breast consultations, clinical examinations, and diagnostic reviews.
  • Evaluate breast masses, abnormal imaging, nipple changes, high‑risk lesions, and suspected malignancies.
  • Interpret mammography, ultrasound, breast MRI, biopsy findings, pathology reports, and relevant genetic investigations.
  • Develop individualized surgical and multidisciplinary treatment plans based on diagnosis, disease stage, patient preference, and international clinical standards.
  • Perform breast‑conserving surgery, lumpectomy, mastectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and axillary procedures.
  • Deliver advanced oncoplastic breast surgery using therapeutic mammoplasty, volume displacement, and volume replacement techniques.
  • Perform or coordinate implant‑based and autologous breast reconstruction.
  • Provide immediate reconstruction and contralateral symmetrisation procedures where clinically appropriate.
  • Manage patients requiring revision surgery, delayed reconstruction, or corrective procedures following previous breast treatment.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary breast cancer meetings and complex case discussions.
  • Collaborate with oncology, radiology, pathology, plastic surgery, genetics, and rehabilitation teams.
  • Coordinate neoadjuvant and adjuvant treatment pathways with medical and radiation oncology specialists.
  • Provide consultant‑level outpatient clinics, inpatient reviews, perioperative care, and long‑term surveillance.
  • Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessment and discuss surgical risks, reconstructive options, anticipated outcomes, and recovery.
  • Monitor postoperative wound healing, pain control, drain management, infection risk, lymphedema, and reconstructive outcomes.
  • Identify and manage surgical complications promptly and effectively.
  • Support long‑term follow‑up for breast cancer recurrence surveillance and survivorship care.
  • Communicate diagnoses, treatment choices, and prognosis with empathy and cultural sensitivity.
  • Support patients and families through complex, emotionally sensitive, and life‑changing decisions.
  • Obtain informed consent and maintain professional confidentiality throughout the care pathway.
  • Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative records, pathology reviews, consent documentation, and follow‑up plans.
  • Ensure adherence to surgical safety, infection prevention, medication management, and patient identification standards.
  • Lead clinical governance activities including audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, pathway evaluation, and quality improvement.
  • Review and optimise breast service pathways in line with recognised international standards.
  • Contribute to the development of breast unit policies, clinical protocols, referral systems, and performance measures.
  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors, residents, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
  • Deliver teaching, case‑based learning, surgical training, and professional development activities.
  • Participate in breast surgery research, service innovation, academic presentations, and publications.
  • Support the strategic development and expansion of breast oncology and reconstructive services.
Ideal Profile
  • Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Completed specialist training and board certification in General Surgery, Breast Surgery, or an equivalent recognised specialty.
  • Fellowship or advanced subspecialty training in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery.
  • Eligibility for DHA consultant licensing in Dubai.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of post‑board certification experience in breast oncology and reconstruction.
  • Extensive consultant‑level experience in accredited breast units.
  • Proven expertise in breast‑conserving surgery, mastectomy, axillary surgery, and oncologic breast procedures.
  • Advanced competence in therapeutic mammoplasty, volume displacement, volume replacement, and symmetrisation.
  • Experience with immediate implant‑based and autologous reconstruction pathways.
  • Strong understanding of breast imaging, pathology, oncology treatment sequencing, and genetic risk assessment.
  • Demonstrated participation in multidisciplinary breast cancer meetings.
