Job summary

AECOM Middle East Ltd is seeking a Civil Inspector – Stormwater Works responsible for supervising construction activities related to stormwater drainage in Dubai. The role requires a minimum of 7 years of experience in civil engineering supervision, including at least 5 years in the UAE.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, a strong knowledge of UAE regulations, and expertise in stormwater and micro tunneling systems.

Job Overview

The Civil Inspector – Stormwater Works is responsible for supervising day‑to‑day construction activities related to stormwater drainage and micro tunneling systems in Dubai. The role ensures all civil works comply with approved drawings, specifications and authority requirements, while maintaining strict control over quality, safety, structural integrity, and project progress. The inspector will collaborate with the Resident Engineer and contractors to uphold Dubai Municipality, RTA, and other regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and inspect stormwater drainage and micro tunneling works on a daily basis.
• Monitor excavation, shoring, shaft construction, tunneling drives, reinforcement, concreting, waterproofing, and finishing activities.
• Verify alignment, levels, gradients and tolerances for stormwater pipelines, chambers, manholes and related structures.
• Ensure contractor activities comply with Dubai Municipality, RTA and relevant authority standards.
• Review all applicable project specifications, codes and approved shop drawings for stormwater systems.
• Record daily manpower, equipment usage and material deliveries at the construction site.
• Supervise concrete curing, protective coating and lining works for drainage and stormwater structures.
• Assist the Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineer with site instructions and contractor close‑out verification.
• Coordinate with contractors to resolve site issues and follow up on corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports including progress updates, observations, test results and safety findings.
• Support survey verification for pipe routes, invert levels and structural accuracy.
• Monitor testing, commissioning and final handover of completed stormwater networks.
• Assist in reviewing RFIs, method statements and variance requests for civil construction activities.
• Coordinate with client representatives and authority inspectors during inspections and maintain all records of findings.
• Maintain organized documentation of NCRs, test reports, as‑built records and completed works.

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in construction supervision of sewerage, stormwater, irrigation and related civil works.
• At least 5 years of UAE experience is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of UAE construction practices, codes and civil engineering regulations.
• Solid understanding of contract documents, technical drawings and project specifications.
• Strong experience in quality control, site inspections and contractor compliance monitoring.
• Ability to manage infrastructure inspections under demanding site conditions.
