Job summary

Emirates Steel in Abu Dhabi is seeking a skilled Casting Operator to support ladle teeming and continuous casting operations. You will follow supervisor directions, ensure availability of consumables, and uphold safety policies across the plant.

The role requires 3–5 years in a steel plant, knowledge of casting parameters, and ability to work with mould assemblies and welding as needed. A strong commitment to quality and safety is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years in a steel plant as a Casting Operator.
• In-depth knowledge of casting parameters and mould assemblies.
• Ability to perform oxy-f cutting and welding is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Carries out Casting Operator duties assigned by the Supervisor, according to production requirements.
• Ensures sufficient availability of Casting consumables and tools.
• Ensures that all Casting safety precautions are followed and the work area is clean and safe.
• Confirms readiness of the machine for new casting sequences and checks machine parts.
• Coordinates with Crane Drivers and Billet Handling Controllers regarding billet quality and casting productivity.
• Performs casting activities in compliance with Emirates Steel QS Program and relevant standards.

Implements, executes and conducts activities of Ladle Operator required to effectively carry out the ladle teeming operation in the SMP1 Caster.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)

• Carries out Casting Operator duties assigned by the Supervisor, according to production requirements.
• Ensures sufficient availability of Casting consumables and tools required for CC operation.
• Ensures that all Casting safety precautions in the machine are working and abides by the Company safety policy.
• Ensures that Casting work area is clean and free of any obstacles or encumbrances to minimize Steel Making Plant hazards.
• Confirm readiness of machine for new casting sequence and check machine parts.
• Follow the instruction for replacing mould assemblies, as well as radioactive sources.
• Ensures the effective execution of casting operational policies covering all areas of the casting plant, so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled, while delivering a cost –effective quality product to RM operation.
• In case of an emergency, cooperates and acts in accordance with the operational procedures/work instructions specified by the Casting Supervisor.
• Shall be responsible for performing casting activities, as specified in the Emirates Steel QS Program, to ensure compliance to applicable Standards, ASME Code and Customer requirements.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• To impart training for new employees.
• To coordinate with Crane Drivers and Billet Handling Controllers regarding the quality of billets supplied by the CC plant.
• To coordinate with EAF/LF and Refractories Team on a regular basis, to optimise the productivity of the Plant.

• In-depth technical knowledge of Steel Making and Continuous Casting operations

Professional Experience (Must Haves)

Experience Recommended (Nice to have)

• Minimum 3-5 years in a Steel Plant as a Casting Operator
• Around 5 Years in steel making plant with billets caster industry
• Ability to cut with oxy-cutting and welding
