Role Context
The Business Studies Teacher is responsible for helping students understand how organizations operate, compete, finance activities, market products, manage people, and respond to changing economic conditions. The position combines academic teaching with applied business learning, requiring strong pedagogy, structured assessment, curriculum development, and the ability to connect classroom concepts with real commercial situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver Business Studies lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
- Teach subject content in line with British curriculum expectations.
- Deliver BTEC Business units and support students with vocationally focused assignments.
- Develop lesson plans that combine theory with practical business examples.
- Teach core topics including marketing, finance, operations, human resources, entrepreneurship, and business strategy.
- Help students understand business ownership, organizational structures, and stakeholder relationships.
- Use case studies to develop commercial awareness and analytical thinking.
- Encourage students to evaluate business decisions using evidence and structured reasoning.
- Prepare schemes of work, classroom resources, assignments, and assessment materials.
- Review and revise curriculum content to maintain relevance and academic progression.
- Adapt methods of instruction according to student ability and course requirements.
- Assess classwork, coursework, projects, examinations, and BTEC assignments.
- Provide clear feedback that supports academic improvement.
- Monitor individual and cohort performance through assessment data.
- Identify gaps in knowledge and provide appropriate intervention.

Ideal Profile
- Master 's degree in Business Studies.
- B.Ed, QTS, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Proven experience teaching Business Studies at Key Stage 3.
- Proven experience teaching Business Studies at Key Stage 4.
- Proven experience teaching Business Studies at Key Stage 5.
- Previous BTEC teaching experience is required.
- Strong academic background.
- Excellent knowledge of Business Studies subject content.
- Strong understanding of effective teaching pedagogy.
- Experience planning and revising curricula and course materials.
- Ability to design appropriate methods of instruction.
