Job summary

ADB SAFEGATE in the United Arab Emirates seeks a Bid Manager to lead bid proposals, provide pre-sales technical guidance, and prepare quotations for turnkey solutions. You will coordinate with Area Sales Managers and ensure competitive pricing while showcasing advanced airfield technology.

The role requires 5–7 years in a similar position, knowledge of AGL/VDGS/Tower tech, and ICAO/FAA standards. You will support regional bids and may lead a team of bid managers.

Qualifications

• Engineer with aeronautical/airfield/airport or electrical background, or equivalent by experience.
• 5-7 years in a similar bid-management role; knowledge of airfield tech is a plus.
• Expert knowledge of ADB Safegate product and solutions; customer services preferred.
• Familiar with AGL/VDGS/Tower technologies and ICAO/FAA standards.
• Understanding government tender requirements in Africa and SLA proposals.
• SAP experience and proficiency with MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, coordinate, and submit bids ranging from simple to complex.
• Calculate and coordinate quotations for solutions and services; update SAP Projects assets.
• Contact customers/agents for technical clarifications during bidding.
• Defend offers internally; support Area Sales Manager as needed.
• Offer alternatives to address price issues or spec deviations.
• Support Area Sales Managers during customer visits to ADB Safegate.
• Conduct FATs and write airfield lighting/VDGS/Tower standards and methods.
• Prepare RFQs for airfield contractors; evaluate offers and select the best.
• Prepare gross BOQs for budget offers (lights, signs, circuits, CCRs, etc.).
• Provide design support for AGL/VDGS/Tower and collaborate with the Middle East team.

Bid Manager

The Opportunity

The Bid Manager will be the initial technical point of contact, offering support or consultancy to customers prior to sales. The Bid Manager will also be responsible for providing quotations for solutions, services, and turnkey business, ensuring that competitive pricing and cutting-edge technology are highlighted.

The Bid Manager plays a pivotal role in assisting Area Sales Managers and Contract Administrators with technical guidance during the execution of projects whilst supporting the Project Management throughout project execution with technical and design issues. Additionally, when required, the bid manager will assume the leadership of a team of bid managers within the region.

You will make an impact by….

• Prepare, coordinate, submit bids with diversity from simple to complex.
• Calculate and coordinate quotations for solutions and services and upload in SAP Projects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
• Contact customers/agents for technical clarifications, active role for technical support to (end) customers before and during the bidding phase.
• Defend offer internally and occasionally locally in support of the Area Sales Manager.
• Able to offer different alternatives, pro-actively in case of price issues or in case of deviations from specification.
• Support of Area Sales Managers at request, e.g. during customer visits to ADB Safegate.
• Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
• Write airfield lighting / VDGS / Tower related standards and methods.
• Contact airfield third party suppliers and installation contractors, prepare RFQs for these, evaluate offers and select the right one for each occasion.
• Prepare gross BOQs (lights, signs, accessories, circuits, CCRs…) for budgetary offers without
• AGL/VDGS/Tower Design support
• Provide support to other Bid Manager working in the Middle East region.

The talent we want to inspire has...

• Engineer (Aeronautical/Airfield/Airport, Electrical or industrial) or equivalent by experience
• 5 - 7 years of experience in a similar role Knowledge about other Airfield technologies
• Expert knowledge of ADB Safegate Product & Solution portfolio, incl. (advanced) customer services is preferred.
• Knowledge about AGL/VDGS/Tower technologies are preferred
• Knowledge of AGL/VDGS/Tower Design and ICAO & FAA Standards
• Good knowledge of government tender requirements in Africa
• Good experience and knowledge on framework & Service Level Agreement proposal
• SAP experience
• MS Office
