Job summary

Delano Dubai on Bluewaters Island is seeking a Commis I - Banquets to join our culinary team. You'll support preparation and delivery of memorable dining experiences for events, working alongside seasoned chefs to refine techniques and ensure high standards.

You will manage mise en place, assist with cooking and plating, adhere to recipes and safety guidelines, and collaborate with colleagues to deliver flawless service. Availability for varied shifts is required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Commis I or an experienced Commis II ready for the next step, ideally within hotel banquet operations.
• Culinary skills: solid foundation in food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
• Banqueting exposure: experience supporting buffet preparation, plated events or high-volume service is beneficial.
• Attention to detail: commitment to following recipes, portion guidelines and presentation standards.
• Organisation & adaptability: keep workstation organised and work calmly during busy service periods.
• Team spirit: positive, collaborative approach and willingness to support colleagues.
• Food safety: understanding of food hygiene, HACCP principles & allergen awareness.
• Willingness to learn: openness to feedback and enthusiasm for developing culinary skills.
• Qualifications: a culinary qualification is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and mise en place for banquet menus and events per instructions.
• Assist with cooking, plating and buffet preparation under guidance of senior chefs.
• Follow recipes, portion guidelines and presentation standards to maintain quality.
• Support food preparation for meetings, weddings, receptions and other events.
• Keep workstation clean, organized and ready for service.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, temperature control and storage procedures.
• Label, date and store ingredients correctly, following stock rotation procedures.
• Use ingredients carefully to minimise waste and communicate stock needs to supervisor.
• Work closely with colleagues to support smooth preparation and timely service.
