Role Context

The Assistant Operations Manager supports the Operations Manager in maintaining a profitable, organized, and guest-focused in-room dining operation. The role combines hands-on floor leadership with people management, service quality control, cost awareness, scheduling, and implementation of established policies and procedures. Strong execution in this position directly affects order accuracy, delivery standards, guest satisfaction, labor efficiency, employee engagement, and overall departmental performance. The successful candidate is expected to remain visible in the operation, support the team during busy periods, and help maintain the high service expectations associated with an ultra-luxury resort.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Operations Manager with the daily management of the In Room Dining department.
  • Support smooth and efficient service across all operating periods.
  • Monitor daily departmental performance and identify operational issues requiring corrective action.
  • Help maintain profitability by controlling labor, operating expenses, and avoidable waste.
  • Coordinate employee schedules according to forecast demand, occupancy, and service requirements.
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage during peak periods and special events.

  • Support ongoing employee development through practical coaching and performance feedback.
  • Assist supervisors and frontline colleagues in resolving service challenges during live operations.
  • Ensure company standard operating procedures, policies, and service guidelines are implemented consistently.
  • Monitor compliance with food and beverage operating procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of guest service across order taking, preparation coordination, delivery, and follow-up.
  • Handle guest concerns professionally and support prompt service recovery when required.
  • Work closely with culinary teams to maintain coordination between production and delivery.
  • Monitor order flow to reduce delays and maintain appropriate service timing.
  • Support accurate communication of special requests, dietary requirements, and VIP preferences.
  • Assist with maintaining presentation standards for trays, trolleys, equipment, and service areas.
  • Monitor operating supplies and communicate replenishment needs where necessary.
  • Support departmental inventory and cost control initiatives.
  • Help reduce unnecessary expenses while protecting service quality.
  • Encourage strong employee engagement and contribute to retention through supportive leadership.
  • Promote a professional and cooperative team environment.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate development activities with senior management.
  • Support implementation of corrective actions when service or performance standards are not met.
  • Maintain effective communication with Front Office, Housekeeping, Culinary, Guest Relations, and other hotel departments.
  • Assist with shift briefings and ensure important guest and operational information is communicated clearly.
  • Review service performance and provide recommendations for improving efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Work under pressure during high-volume periods while maintaining calm and visible leadership.
  • Support departmental reporting, operational reviews, and other management requirements.
  • Perform additional responsibilities delegated by the Operations Manager when required.
Ideal Profile

The successful candidate should have 3-5 years of experience in a similar food and beverage or in-room dining management role within a luxury hotel or resort environment. Previous international hospitality experience is preferred. Candidates should understand the operational demands of high-end food and beverage service, including staffing, scheduling, guest recovery, service timing, cost control, and team performance. Strong leadership skills are essential because the role involves developing employees, supporting supervisors, maintaining standards, and guiding the team during demanding service periods. A hands-on management style is particularly important. The preferred candidate should be comfortable working directly within the operation rather than managing exclusively through reporting and delegation.
