Qualifications

• Experience Required: 4 - 6 years of progressively responsible relevant experience

Job Description

Responsible for managing the food services section/department in the facility. This includes planning and organizing internal resources and supervising the catering contractors to ensure that the dietary requirements of all patients (as ordered by the physicians), staff and visitors are taken care of.

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic leadership and vision for the department/section
• Directing the overall operations and setting long term plan for the overall functioning of the department/section
• Preparing and submitting the annual capital equipment budget
• Assisting the Manager in the completion of the department programs and other related duties
• Assuming accountability for accurate time keeping within the department/section
• Leading quality improvement initiatives and monitoring the departmental/sectional operations
• Supervising the catering contractor. Managing and monitoring the catering contractor's activities to ensure adherence to the catering contract
• Collecting, collating and modifying all data pertaining to food service in the department/section
• Checking of all food deliveries as per catering contract specifications
• Assisting in the correct operating and utilization of all kitchen equipments and ensuring equipment maintenance
• Assisting in the planning and coordination of patients and cafeteria menus
• Compiling cyclical Royal/VIP patient menus
• Supervising preparation of meals and observing how the food is being cooked
• Coordinating and supervising special functions
• Monitoring all cafeteria services and activities including the recreation center/social club, if applicable
• Maintaining operating standards and hygiene control. Following and complying with all applicable health and sanitation procedures and adhering to safe work practices
• Ensuring that hygiene standards are maintained and the work area is kept clean and tidy for all preparations
• Conducting inspection from time to time to ensure compliance with standards of the facility and regulations
• Developing and monitoring statistics to ensure optimum productively with available resources
• Ensuring the timely production of an annual report of to include department/section's performance and productivity statistics
• Ensuring good customer service in the department/section Meeting and exceeding customer needs through the development and promotion of key principles that support customer satisfaction
• Dealing appropriately with complaints when necessary
• Maintaining up to date knowledge of current trends and developments relevant to the department/section and sharing these with the team
• Supporting the recruitment department/section for screening, interviewing and selecting new employees
• Ensuring adherence to personnel policies, formation of annual work plans/goals and undertaking existence annual staff evaluation
• Ensuring that up to date and current job descriptions are available within the department/section
• Maintaining time keeping system for all sectional employees including hours worked, overtime hours, vacation, holiday, work rotas, etc.
• Contributing in maintenance of quality well trained staff
